Only the definition's entities crossed drawings: its record's object
graph (parameters, visibility states, grips) stayed behind, and a
reference showing an evaluated copy lost the link to its definition.
The clipboard now captures the graph and the dynamic definition of an
evaluated reference, and paste and the block palette's insert-from-file
recreate them on the new records, re-pointing members and element tags.

COPY cloned the reference's AcDbRepData without its handle, owner or
representation index, and both references kept sharing one evaluated *U
block, so a state picked on either changed both. The clone now names
itself and is indexed; a state change gives a reference whose *U other
references share its own copy first.

Each picked region matched every edge of its rings against every
boundary source of the drawing, twice: with 65,000 sources a click took
over 30 seconds. Sources are now narrowed to those reaching the rings'
box first, once per hatch and once per ring: the same click takes 9 ms.
Objects on layers that are turned off (not frozen) now bound a hatch, as
in the reference. Drawings switch off the layers that close the regions
to be hatched; without them a click between columns found the outer
frame instead. (#1813)

The dimension style, multileader style and Properties pickers listed
every block of the drawing as an arrowhead, and nothing else. They now
list the 19 standard arrowheads (Closed filled, Open, Dot, Architectural
tick, Oblique, Right angle, Datum triangle, …), followed by any user
arrow block the dimension or style already uses. Picking one creates
its block (`_Open`, `_ArchTick`, …) with the geometry the reference
program writes, so other programs draw the same arrow; ODA reads the
saved file cleanly.
`_Small` now draws as the reference's "Dot small blank", a hollow circle
half the arrow size, instead of a small filled triangle.
Also drops a duplicated "DGN Import" catalog entry left by #1810/#1812.

A solid's edges and silhouettes were drawn in its face colour, and the
edge shader read that from the material instead of the edge vertices.
Colour 7 is white, so in Wireframe 2D a solid vanished white-on-white in
a layout viewport (and on a light model background), while wires and
block solids already turned black there. Solids now keep a separate
edge colour, colour 7 turned against the background they are drawn on,
and the edge shader uses the edge vertices' colour again, which also
brings back visual-style edge colours. Shaded faces keep their colour
so they still read as lit. (#1446)

Saving `starttekening.dwg` unchanged lost 275 associative objects: the
constraint network rebuilt before saving cannot write a dimensional
constraint that drives a dynamic block's constraint parameter instead of
a dimension, nor separate dependencies on single edges of one polyline.
The block parameters ended up pointing at erased objects. A group with
either link is now kept as read, through the existing preserved-group
path; ODA counts the same 1948 associative proxies before and after.

Enable the existing palette rows and BPARAMETER choices. Rotation accepts a
center, picked or numeric radius, and picked or numeric default angle.
Alignment places a tangent direction from its base point. Flip places a
reflection line and state label, with native grip and state expressions.
Extend shared graph append/capacity checks for Flip's additional state node
while preserving existing subgraphs. Keep Polar/Rotation angle labels unique
in either placement order. Add editor graphics, extents and definition
reframing through the existing overlay/history/save paths.
This milestone implements native parameter placement and persistence.
Rotate/Flip action association, reference alignment/grip editing, parameter
property editing and parameter sets remain separate work.
Validation covers command and palette placement, cancellation, local/parent
undo, save/discard, native DWG/DXF objects, existing graph preservation and
the 17 research fixtures. Broader block/dock regressions and editor renders
are also checked.
Enable the three existing palette rows and BPARAMETER choices. Pick a base,
endpoint and label location to create the appropriate native parameter, one
end grip and its location expressions in the shared authoring graph.
Render editor dimensions and labels, preserve them when reframing the block,
and include them in editor extents. Reuse local undo/redo, save/discard and
native DWG/DXF persistence. Reject incomplete or invalid placement without
changing document data or history.
This milestone implements parameter placement. Action association/evaluation,
parameter property editing, alternate grip counts and parameter sets remain
separate work.
Validation: focused placement and palette interaction checks; Block Editor and
dock regressions; native append and DWG/DXF round trips in all 17 research
fixtures, preserving existing graph data and source files; app-view renders.
Enable Point in Authoring Palettes and BPARAMETER. Pick parameter and label
positions, then create the native Point, XY grip and position expressions in
one undo transaction. Draw editor-only markers and clear placement previews.
Share graph append construction with Visibility so both types coexist in
either order. Allocate node, expression and edge IDs independently; preserve
existing objects, nodes and relationships and reject malformed/opaque graphs.
Reframe parameter, label and grip with the edited definition. Include authoring
positions in editor framing while keeping reference geometry extents unchanged.
Retain save/discard and parent saved-edit undo. Action association/evaluation
and parameter property editing remain separate milestones.
Validation: 10 targeted, 286 block and 60 dock checks passed (overlapping
filters). Appending a Point to an existing native graph passed DWG/DXF
roundtrips in all 17 local fixtures; old objects and original checksums stayed
unchanged. Real-view palette interaction and rendered marker/label verified.
Add the current-state selector, Visibility States dialog and mode/show/hide
controls to the contextual ribbon, using shared icons, tooltips, modal UI
and adaptive flyouts. Disable the controls until a Visibility parameter exists.
Stage state creation, rename, deletion, current-state changes and reordering
until OK. Support copied, show-all and hide-all new states in one undo step,
preserve native graph metadata, and restore current-state identity on undo/redo.
Implement nonsaved BVMODE and display-only reveal during BVSHOW selection.
Cancelling selection leaves saved visibility flags and history unchanged.
Keep the existing command-line state workflows available.
Validation: 6 targeted tests; 277 block, 31 app dock, 35 ribbon and 12 history
checks passed (overlapping filters). All 17 local DWG fixtures passed in-memory
DWG/DXF preservation checks with unchanged original checksums.
Milestone 1: enable Parameters > Visibility and add interactive
BPARAMETER VISIBILITY placement using the existing native visibility
parameter, grip and state engine. Bare BPARAMETER currently offers only
Visibility; other parameter, action and set entries remain unavailable.
Show the placed parameter in the editor and support cancel, local undo/
redo, save/discard and saved-edit undo. Bind placement to its document
and definition, reject duplicates and invalid points, and protect existing
authoring graphs from replacement.
Keep visibility parameters and their grips aligned with geometry when a
BEDIT UCS change reframes the definition, including parameter-only blocks.
Validation: 9 targeted tests, 272 block checks and 58 dock checks passed
(overlapping groups). All 17 local DWG fixtures passed in-memory DWG/DXF
placement roundtrips and graph-preservation checks; originals unchanged.
The DGN V7/V8 readers expose each element (level, symbology, geometry,
complex chains, text nodes, shared cells). DGNIMPORT / -DGNIMPORT convert a
model with the Standard mapping into a new drawing; IMPORT opens the
Import File window and routes PDF and DGN files to their importers.

PDFIMPORT follows FILEDIA and -PDFIMPORT asks for the file, page,
insertion point, scale and rotation on the command line. A page with a
viewport measure is imported in its measured units. Straight polylines
that trace arcs, circles and ellipses, and runs of circular Bezier arcs
on one circle, become those objects; other Bezier curves become one
SPLINE each.

The codec now decodes version-0 (2010 release) constraint groups, so the
parametric constraints of such drawings load and their dynamic
dimensions show (#992). Constraint groups also keep their next node id.

MEASUREGEOM gains a Quick option. As the cursor moves, the nearest
drawn geometry along the working plane's X and Y lines through it is
measured live: cyan measurement lines and a Horizontal/Vertical readout
by the cursor. A click prints the current readout and keeps measuring;
Enter ends the command. The rays go through the scene's interaction
index, so large drawings stay responsive.
A structure-pick command whose miss message is empty now gets the click
as a plain point instead of an error.

Add the no-selection Block section with annotation, orientation, scaling, exploding, units, description and hyperlink controls. Integrate definition edits with editor history, save checkpoints and discard, and keep staged text tied to its definition.
Persist annotation and hyperlink metadata on the block record, migrate legacy marker values on edit, and honor orientation and hyperlink descriptions during block creation. Cover native DWG/DXF roundtrips and replacement after reopening.
With dynamic UCS on (UCSDETECT 1, toggled with F6), a command's first
point picked on a planar face of a solid sets the UCS to that face for
the rest of the command, so 2D commands draw on the face (#1711). An
unsnapped first point lands on the face itself; a snapped point off the
face's plane belongs to other geometry and leaves the UCS alone. The
previous UCS comes back when the command ends. UCS commands themselves
are left out.

Cargo: codec d36331d, kernel 60f086b, graph 74aac56.
The table model and its file codec now live in `codec::plot_style`
(opencadcodec#53) and are re-exported here. What stays is where tables
come from: the plot styles folder, the session registry, the shipped
tables, and saving to disk, as the `PlotStyleTableExt` trait.

- Gradient stops keep their DWG color book name and book; RGB wins over
ACI in a DXF gradient block in either tag order.
- MTEXT decimal tab stops keep their alignment character.

Annotative text in DWG/DXF holds the model height of its default
(native) scale representation; other scales draw it at the ratio of the
two. OCS read the stored value as paper height and multiplied it by the
annotation scale again, so text from AutoCAD came out far too small
(#1734), and annotative text OCS wrote came out too small in AutoCAD.
- Rendering uses the active/native context ratio (1 when the object has
no representation for the displayed scale).
- TEXT with an annotative style asks for the paper height, stores the
model height of the creation scale and gets that context; MTEXT
starts from the model height; ANNOUPDATE converts a fixed style
height the same way.
- Properties: the Height row of annotative TEXT and MTEXT is the paper
height at the displayed scale, with the model height beside it, and
an edit converts back. MTEXT shows Annotative when it has contexts.

A dynamic dimension is drawn by its constraint at screen size; without
the constraint it is a bare dimension with stretched extension lines.
Those orphans now stay undrawn and unplotted, as in a viewer (#992).
- First-release drawings keep dynamic dimensions on
*LayerNameForDynamicConstraint; it counts as the dynamic layer.
- The hidden set is refreshed when constraints load, and the loader's
prepared wires (built before that) are not installed while it holds
anything.

The union precompute assigned each shared object to whichever copied
tree reached it last while descending only from the first reacher, so
a root ref'd by a later-sorted sibling lost its owner and the true
owner's clone pass skipped its own root. Seed every root's ownership
up front and make the walk first-wins with a claimed set, so ownership
stays consistent with the per-entity clone passes in any selection
order. Also wrap the new tests to rustfmt and drop product names from
added comments.
A multi-entity COPY cloned each entity's extension-dictionary tree
independently, so refs crossing between the copied trees (root to
sibling root, nested sibling objects, entity handles inside XRecords)
stayed pointed at the sources. Precompute the union closure of every
copied tree, preallocate authoritative clone handles, skip re-cloning
sibling-owned objects during each per-entity pass, and rewrite
entity-valued refs through the completed copy map afterwards. Trees
outside the copy set are deep-cloned inline, matching the reference
product, which clones an out-of-set dictionary target rather than
keeping it verbatim.
With nothing selected, Shift+MMB orbit pivoted on the surface at the
view centre, so grabbing a small part off-centre flung the model away.
It now pivots on the solid or mesh surface under the pointer where the
drag began, falling back to the view centre and then the camera target
(#1389).

Import AutoCAD PGP aliases and support UCSFOLLOW workflows. The UCS
conflict keeps main's click-origin flow (axis preview, Enter accepts
the placed axes) and takes the PR's prompt and option keywords.
An annotative dimension style still stores a DIMSCALE (100 in ACA
templates), but its features are sized by the annotation scale. Using
the stored value drew 3 mm dimension text 300 units tall, burying the
plan under giant digits.
Some templates also store their ratio scales already converted to the
drawing unit (a metre drawing's "1:50" as 1 paper = 0.05 drawing, with
CANNOSCALEVALUE 20). Applying the INSUNITS conversion on top shrank
the annotation multiplier a thousandfold.

The resident wire sets were capped at 16 and cleared once more were
held. A layout with more content viewports than that (24 in the report)
cleared them all on each redraw and re-tessellated the model for every
viewport, so the layout stayed sluggish even when nothing changed. The
cap now covers the shown layout's viewports: idle redraws build no
wires, and a frame of that layout draws in ~14 ms instead of ~30 ms
plus ~100 ms of rebuilds.
The automation bridge gains a `layout_switch` action, as clicking a
layout tab does, which is how this was measured.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Restoring a layer state while a layout viewport is active now applies it
to that viewport alone, as viewport freezes and viewport overrides for
colour, linetype, lineweight and transparency (where they differ from the
layer, or an override is already there). On/off, lock and plot have no
per-viewport form and still apply to the drawing.
Viewport colour overrides are packed as the format does (0xC3 index,
0xC2 true colour); reading them now honours that type byte, so an index
override from a file no longer shows as a near-black true colour.

- block-def strings in every locale (English until translated); the
catalog test requires each locale to carry them.
- A new block's base point starts at 0, and ATTMAN / BATTMAN report a
drawing without attributed blocks; the tests expect that now.
- Lines over 100 columns wrapped.

Reference-only entities (plugin API v9): a scene-scoped, in-memory
designation for plugin-owned display geometry, plus HostNotification
dispatch to native plugins so they can re-mark on DocumentOpened.
Resolves the new DeltaSnapshot site in block_editor.rs.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Per the upstream review of the XDATA-based storage: the host no longer writes
its own state into the saved file. The marker record under the host-owned OCS
APPID, the on-first-use APPID registration and the verbatim-EED rewrite
handling are removed; the single source of truth is a scene-scoped in-memory
set of entity handles (Scene::reference_only) that dies with the drawing tab,
so a reopened file starts undesignated and the owning plugin re-marks on the
document-opened notification.
All behaviour sites are unchanged, driven by the set: the wire stamp moves
from an XDATA read to a set lookup threaded through the tessellation
pipelines (tessellate_entity and the dimension text path take the handle set
as a plain parameter), and the pick filters, selection retains and
update/erase refusals read Scene::is_reference_only.
Undo keeps the entity-write contract: set mutations are recorded as explicit
first-touch before/after values on each history delta (the parametric-
constraints channel pattern). A designation inside a plugin push_undo scope
joins it, a scope-less change is one step of its own, an idempotent re-mark
records nothing, erasing a designated entity drops the set entry with the
entity, and undo/redo restores entity and designation together.
The round-trip test is inverted: reference_only_designation_is_not_written_
to_dwg_or_dxf now asserts the marker appears in neither format's bytes, that
no OCS APPID or marker record survives a reload, and that the designation
stays live in memory.
-BLOCK, -WBLOCK, -BEDIT, ATTSYNC, BASE and INSBASE follow the reference
prompts and messages; empty blocks; WBLOCK keeps object coordinates and
stores INSBASE; annotative and hyperlink data on the block record; block
preview images; remembered dialog choices; block aliases.

Open the Edit Block Definition dialog when BEDIT is invoked without an active selection, listing candidate block definitions alphabetically while filtering layout records, anonymous blocks, and external references. Allow typing a new valid block name to start an empty block editor session that only commits to the drawing block table upon explicit save.
The end angle subtracted a whole octant less the end offset, so the arc
in the ISOCP 9 stopped about 45 degrees short and the glyph shrank to
0.68 of the cap height; clockwise arcs and n = 0 (a full circle) drew
nothing.

A save records the entered model viewport (or the sheet) as the layout's
last active viewport, and opening the layout enters it again with its
UCS. Picks up the codec fix that kept a last-active link from being read
as the sheet viewport (codec d57097c, kernel b40fa59, graph 2360341).

During in-place reference editing everything outside the working set
fades by XFADECTL. A DWF underlay's page now stays as it is, like a
raster image or a PDF page, and only its frame fades; a DGN underlay's
content keeps fading with the rest.

Every weight under 0.26 mm was clamped to the screen's 1 px floor before
the PDF and SVG exporters saw it, so 0.00, 0.09, 0.13 and 0.25 mm all
plotted alike. The floor now applies on the GPU only.

In the Block Editor, BVSTATE makes a new visibility state, makes one
current, renames or deletes one; BVHIDE and BVSHOW hide or show the
picked objects in the current state (BVSHOW shows every object of the
block while they are picked). The first use makes the block dynamic.
The states are stored as the format keeps them: a
BLOCKVISIBILITYPARAMETER in the block's ACAD_ENHANCEDBLOCK evaluation
graph with its visibility grip and the grip's two location expressions,
the round-trip purge preventer, AcDbDynamicBlockTrueName /
AcDbDynamicBlockGUID / AcDbBlockRepETag on the definition and element
tags on each of its objects. The definition shows its first state; a
reference given another state gets its own evaluated *U copy, tagged
AcDbBlockRepBTag and linked back through AcDbBlockRepresentation /
AcDbRepData, so it shows that state and the other references do not
change. Saving the block drops erased objects from the states.
Checked: a block authored this way reads back with its states and
reference link from DWG and DXF, and the ODA converter accepts the DWG.
