Karim Jerbi 9cf9ff2c5c style: apply cargo fmt across workspace 2026-10-11 03:14:29 +01:00
Karim Jerbi 8dca7fbaed refactor(ribbon): single dock predicate, drop dead layer_names mirror
The edge-stack closure duplicated dock_panel_visible arm-for-arm; it now delegates (tab is provably the active tab at that site). Ribbon.layer_names was written but never read outside one test; deleted, test reads via layer_infos. Faces and combo-refresh sub-items investigated and dropped (already unified upstream; no live stale path). Tests: dock visibility parity pins incl. Start-tab. Full suite: 2046 passed / 0 failed / 25 ignored, zero warnings.

Hakan SevenandClaude Opus 5.5 6256ad3bd5 feat(ribbon): the layer combo shows typical layer names in full
The closed combo is at least 250 px wide (about 25 characters of name)
and its dropdown 300 px.

Fixes #1648

Hakan SevenandClaude Opus 5.5 1eae36e726 Cargo: codec 76d2a1c, kernel e652b4d, graph 0545fa9; text styles, templates, solid edges
- Text styles keep their TrueType typeface through save and reopen (codec
reads and writes the STYLE record's ACAD extended data) (#1633)
- Unnamed shape-file entries no longer show in text style lists (#1634)
- Save As offers DWT 2018; NEW asks for the template to start from, while
Ctrl+N and the quick-access New run QNEW with the default template (#1635)
- An edge next to an earlier fillet of the same radius rounds together with
it (kernel); the solid stays drawn and pickable while edges are chosen
  (#1625, #1107)
- A full cache rebuild drops the B-rep cache too, so an undone fillet does
not come back with the next edge operation (#1107)
- Selected solids in shaded styles highlight only their visible edges (#1031)
- VIEW ISO / SWISO / SEISO / NEISO / NWISO snap to the isometric corners

Hakan SevenandClaude Opus 5.5 1cbcc8f4c5 fix: feet-inch dynamic input, STRETCH preselection, ribbon title wrap
- Dynamic-input fields take ' and " and read 2'9" / 3' as lengths (#937)
- STRETCH on a selection made by a crossing window stretches through that
window and goes straight to the base point (#1068)
- STRETCH's crossing-window steps show no coordinate boxes (#657)
- Collapsed ribbon panel titles wrap at words, never mid-word (#920)

Hakan SevenandClaude Opus 5.5 178c7dff41 fix: open-issue sweep — drawing, plot, snap, layout and UI fixes
Fixes:
- Font prompt no longer lists bundled ltypeshp/qcadshp shape files (#1626)
- Wide polylines step at a discontinuous segment width; PEDIT marks the
current vertex; keyword steps refresh the command preview (#1628)
- Radius-0 fillet drops the zero-length segment it left, so the corner
  fillets again (#1422)
- FILLET Trim / No trim option (#1558)
- True-colour wires plot in their own colour; colour picker stores the
  value it shows (#1621)
- Model tab keeps its page setup; "Save changes to layout" in Model (#1620)
- QNEW default template in Options > Files; .dwt in the open dialog
  (#1134, #1113)
- GRIDUNIT / GRIDMODE / PERSPECTIVE variables (#1618, #1524)
- PTYPE (#1433)
- ZOOM nX / nXP (#1465)
- CHSPACE between model and paper space through a viewport (#1428)
- Moving a dimension keeps its automatic text placement
- Shell icon; "&&" button labels (#1554)
- LINETYPE Load from a .lin file (#1588)
- XLINE / RAY hide the crosshair arms (#1437)
- Dynamic-input boxes keep clear of the crosshair and each other (#1546)
- Snap marker colour setting, dark default on light canvases
  (#1497, #1229, #1128)
- Dimension style precision as a 0.00 pattern dropdown (#1426)
- Node graph nodes left of the origin no longer clip away (#1592)
- Collapse button in the command history header (#1094)
- Freeze-in-current-viewport toggle in the ribbon layer list (#1466)
- Geometric Center object snap for closed polylines (#1369)

New strings translated in all 21 locales.

Karim Jerbi 5f016e1192 fix(layers): carry layer name instead of row index in Message::Layer*
Closes the view-to-dispatch resort race: the nine Layer* variants plus ColorPickTarget::Layer now carry the layer name and resolve to the current panel row at dispatch time via layer_panel_index; unknown names no-op. View sites (layer panel, ribbon dropdown) and the CLI/plugin path send names, so the CLI position lookup and the ribbon enumerate are deleted. Panel-internal selection state stays index-based. Tests: layer_toggle_visible_targets_layer_by_name_after_resort pins name targeting across a re-sort; layer_toggle_visible_unknown_name_is_noop pins the graceful no-op. Full suite: 1974 passed / 0 failed / 25 ignored.

Christopher OverbeckandClaude Opus 5.5 278e15405d style(ribbon): tint, rather than fill, the tab holding the running command
A full-strength fill on a large tab header read louder than the selected
tab's outline. A faint wash of the same blue still points at the tab
without looking selected.

Christopher OverbeckandClaude Opus 5.5 1093900a49 feat(ribbon): highlight the running command's button
A command started from the command line, an alias, a shortcut or Repeat
now lights the same ribbon button a click on it would, so users learn
where the tools they type live. A button inside a dropdown lights the
dropdown, a slide-out tool lights its group title, a tool hidden in a
collapsed panel lights the panel's opener, and a button on another tab
lights that tab's header. Always on, in the existing active-button blue.

Buttons are matched by the command they dispatch, so ids that differ
from their command still resolve; the tab on show wins when a command
appears twice, and a clicked button keeps its highlight. Transparent
commands leave the running command lit. The #355 rule that a highlight
lasts only while something runs moves from the ribbon click handler into
dispatch_command, so typed commands are cleared the same way.

ramox81andClaude Opus 5.5 7f8f8457c7 Frames: state-following ribbon list, DWF/DGN frames, image frame encoding and profile, frame-only picking
- The Frames list shows the drawing's frame state (hide / display and plot /
display but not plot / frames vary), follows commands, undo and document
switches, and lists the mixed state as a disabled item.
- DWFFRAME and DGNFRAME are frame variables of their own, kept in the header,
and FRAME sets them with the others.
- Out-of-range frame values say "Requires an integer between 0 and 2." and
ask again; a set value reports "Regenerating model.".
- IMAGEFRAME is stored in the image variables as bits (2 is written as 3) and
a drawing without them uses the profile value, which setting IMAGEFRAME
updates and the settings file keeps.
- Raster images, PDF underlays and wipeouts are picked on their frame only;
underlay snap geometry is never picked.

Hakan SevenandClaude Opus 5.5 f537aff75c feat: node graph overlay; move to opencadcodec/opencadkernel/opencadgraph
The codec and kernel repositories and crates are renamed opencadcodec and
opencadkernel. Inside OCS they are depended on under short keys, so code
reads `codec::`, `kernel::` and the new `graph::` (opencadgraph, the node
graph engine). File-format and protocol spellings stay as they were: the
ACIS product id `acadrust`, the ACADRUST_* switches and the plugin
version keys `acadrust_version` / `acadrust_source`.

A button left of MCP on the command line opens a translucent node graph
over the viewport, with a palette of object, input, math, logic, list,
text and geometry nodes added by click or drag. An object node owns
drawing entities and its rows are the Properties panel's own rows for
them: the single-object page is extracted from refresh_properties as
entity_property_sections, values use the control protocol's
property_json, and writes go through set_property_value with a property
target override, so the panel, MCP and the graph share one read/write
path. A list reaching an object row makes one entity per element. Each
graph action is one undo step; the canvas pans and zooms.

7ed6a362dc feat(ui): show ribbon command icons in menus and suggestions
The ribbon definition beside each command stays the one source of its
label and icon. One cached lookup (modules::registry::ribbon_commands)
walks the core ribbon and the expanded Draw/Modify panels; the shortcut
list, the right-click menu, the grip menu and the command-line
suggestions read it.

- Context menu: command rows carry their ribbon icon; Undo/Redo and
Isolate use interface glyphs, Draw Order its ribbon icon; icons and
the caret fade on disabled rows.
- Grip menu: Stretch, Move, Rotate, Scale, Mirror and Copy icons.
- Suggestions: an icon column, aligned when a command has none.
- Shortcut list: dropdown entries were read as (label, command) though
the ribbon stores (command, label), so they never got a label or icon.

Reworked from #1449.

Karim Jerbi dcc05f310d perf(statusbar): cache layout/scale derived data behind epochs (major)
Status bar rescanned the whole object map twice per frame (layout_names +
scale_picker_list), deep-cloned an already-cached Arc, and built two
undo/redo label vecs consumed ~never. Cache layout names (epoch key) and
scale picker (epoch + unit-factor + imperial-family + current-scale key)
as Arc behind choke-point invalidation (layout/scale impl methods,
undo/redo swaps, file-open, doc-reset); borrow across the widget boundary
(owned-Arc params; E0515 forbids &'a slices over call-site temporaries);
build undo/redo labels only when their dropdown is open.

Tests:
- cached_layout_names_returns_same_arc_until_bump: hit-path Arc identity
- cached_layout_names_invalidated_by_add_layout: bump yields new Arc + names
- cached_scale_picker_returns_same_arc_until_bump: hit-path Arc identity
- cached_scale_picker_invalidated_by_add_scale: bump yields new Arc + scale
- cached_scale_picker_invalidated_by_current_scale_change: key completeness

Bench (cargo bench ui_statusbar_derived_data, 3k entities): cached hit below
timer granularity vs ~1us uncached scans, PASS (50us threshold).

  * 100x Zoom Navigation, Spatial InteractionIndex, Multi-mode Hit-Testing, OSnap Tracking
  * 2D Parametric Dogleg Constraint Solving, DXF Import/Export Throughput
  * UI Ribbon View Construction, Viewport Grid Projection, Grid Cache Evaluation
  * Themed SVG Icon Lookup Caching, Cold Extents AABB Calculation
  * Batch Entity Transformation, Draworder Depth Map Full/Patch, Delta-Undo Recording
- Expose internal calculation hooks with #[doc(hidden)] pub to prevent API leakage.
- Remove 644 lines of legacy, scattered ad-hoc #[test] #[ignore] benchmarks across src/.
- Add developer and regression documentation in benches/README.md.

Karim Jerbi 50cb21e4d4 refactor(ribbon): make StyleContext borrowed to avoid 8 clones per view
Replace the 8 owned clones in StyleContext construction (4 Vec<String>
+ 4 String) at ribbon/mod.rs:568 and :1059 with borrowed refs.
StyleContext is now StyleContext<'a> with &'a [String]/&'a str
(widgets.rs:313), RenderCtx holds &'a StyleContext<'a> (:633),
and call sites pass &self.x instead of .clone(). The view-local
borrow is valid for the duration of Ribbon::view() and the style
dropdown overlay.

TDD: RED style_context_tests failed E0308 (owned vs borrowed),
GREEN added lifetime and updated 4 type sites + 2 construction sites.

Karim Jerbi 452749f58c fix(ribbon): align combo panel dropdowns to a shared baseline
Style selectors (Standard, layer, Color/Linetype/Lineweight) sat at
different heights across ribbon panels because each combo panel
vertically centered its content: panels with fewer icon rows
(Multiline Text, Table) centered their dropdown differently than
panels with two rows (Dimensions, Multileader).

- Pin all combo panels (Layers, Properties, style combos) to the top
of the fixed 3-row panel with a shared COMBO_PANEL_PAD, so every
primary dropdown shares one baseline regardless of icon-row count
- Extract the duplicated tool-row and panel-container code into
  tool_row() / combo_panel_col() helpers + named spacing constants
- Bundle the per-view render state into RenderCtx, shrinking
render_large/render_large_dropdown from 12-14 positional args to
  (item, &ctx)
- print_to_printer: silence the Windows-only dead-code warning on
PrintOptions::quality with the platform split documented (the field
is read by the CUPS `lp -o print-quality` path)

Karim Jerbi 32c3844526 perf(ribbon): stop building and laying out 5 panel renderings per frame
Each ribbon panel was rendered five ways every frame so CollapsePanels could
roll back to any density at layout time: full, compact, button, tight and a
full-size flyout that duplicated the full rendering.
The layout pass ran four full measure-layouts per panel even in forced modes,
and the degradation decision was an untested u8 inline in Ribbon::view.

Now the choice is a pure, unit-tested decide_levels() whose levels are a typed
Level enum (Full/Compact/Collapsed/Tight). Panel carries its four renderings
as elements: [Element; 4] indexed by Level, with a slot(i, level) helper for
the tree stride. Forced modes (Full/Compact/Collapsed) measure nothing at all
and derive the row height from the placed panel. The open flyout draws the
panel's own `full` rendering inside a self-drawn box (identical weakest-bg +
1px neutral-border to the container it replaced), so no duplicate
render_group is built per panel per frame. Level, Panel, Widths, CollapsePanels
and decide_levels are pub(crate); CollapseMode stays pub (re-exported).

Tests (collapse.rs tests module, added RED first):
- forced_modes_pin_every_panel
- auto_huge_width_keeps_everything_full
- auto_degrades_from_the_right_one_panel_at_a_time
- auto_stops_degrading_once_the_row_fits
- auto_escalates_a_single_panel_past_collapsed_to_tight
- auto_cascade_drops_every_collapsed_panel_to_tight
- auto_runs_the_compact_phase_across_the_row_first
- no_panels_stays_empty
- single_panel_walks_the_whole_ladder
- zero_widths_never_overflow
- endless_row_degrades_everything_to_tight
- unbounded_row_keeps_everything_full
- nan_budget_degrades_both_phases_but_no_tight_cascade
- exact_fit_at_full_stays_full
- matches_the_pre_refactor_algorithm: byte-equivalence sweep against the
  verbatim pre-refactor u8 algorithm (280 width/budget combos incl. the
degenerate 0/0/inf/NaN inputs), proving the decision logic is unchanged.

Measured with the committed #[ignore]d benchmark
(`cargo test --lib --release -- --ignored --nocapture bench_ribbon_view_construction`)
run as one instrument across pre-change / this change: Ribbon::view()
construction ~676 -> ~425 us/frame (~37% of view construction saved); forced
modes run 1 layout call per panel per frame instead of 5.

Verification: cargo build clean; cargo test --lib = 382 passed (367 baseline
+ 15 new ribbon tests) / 2 known pre-existing failures unchanged
(save_then_open_round_trips, tilted_ucs_places_planar_entities_with_the_plane_normal).

Karim Jerbi b4da342f0e refactor(ribbon): derive the Block Palette button highlight from app state
The ribbon kept its own \show_block_palette\ copy that the app had to
manually sync at every mutation point (the BLOCKPALETTE command and the
dock Close handler). Drop the copy and thread the app's authoritative
\show_block_palette\ into \Ribbon::view\ at render time, so the button
highlight can't drift from the panel's true visibility — those two
handlers are now mutate-points only and the ribbon view is the single
place that reads the state back.

Karim Jerbi fbab4c4934 feat(ribbon): Block Palette button reflects panel open state
The Insert tab's Block Palette button now behaves like the View tab toggles
(UCS Icon, View Cube, Ortho, Properties, File Tabs, Layout Tabs): it stays
highlighted while the block palette panel is open and clears when closed.

The Ribbon gains a show_block_palette flag with a set_block_palette setter,
fed into ToggleState and mapped in is_active_tool for the BLOCKPALETTE tool
id. show_block_palette on the app remains the single source of truth; both
mutation paths now mirror it onto the ribbon:

- BLOCKPALETTE / BLOCKSPALETTE command toggles ribbon state alongside the
  panel (src/app/commands/blocks.rs).
- Closing the panel via the dock rail close button clears the ribbon state,
matching how Close(Properties) already syncs (src/app/update/dialog.rs).

Hakan SevenandClaude Opus 5 b5a1146966 feat(view): one list of visual styles behind every way of choosing one
The ribbon offered four styles and dispatched each one's id as a command.
Two of those ids were not visual-style commands: "Shaded" carried SOLID,
which draws a 2D filled polygon, so choosing it started a draw command;
"Hidden" carried HIDDEN, which matched nothing at all, so it did nothing.
The intent had been for the button to fire its tool's event, but the
dropdown never reads one -- it dispatches the id.

Behind that sat two generations of the same feature. The render-mode
picker offered the seven styles a viewport can actually be drawn in;
everything else -- the ribbon, VSCURRENT, SHADEMODE, VISUALSTYLES and a
handful of bare verbs -- went through a binary wireframe-or-shaded flag
that could only approximate them, reporting "Hidden (shown shaded)" and
"X-Ray (shown as wireframe)" when asked for something it had no way to
draw. Four descriptions of one choice, each drifting on its own.

There is one list now. Each style names itself once -- mode, label, icon,
and the command that applies it -- and the ribbon, the picker, the
VISUALSTYLES verb and the interactive prompt all read from it, down to
the line that lists the choices, so what is offered cannot disagree with
what works. Keywords are the render modes' own names, since there is one
set of styles left to name.

The binary path is gone rather than kept alongside: its message, its
module event, the tool definitions that produced it, the ribbon's
special-cased highlight arms, the bare style verbs and the older keyword
spellings. X-Ray goes with it -- no render mode draws one, and it was
already coming out as a plain wireframe. Three files that had been left
holding a single icon constant each fold into the list.

Note: ModuleEvent::SetWireframe leaves the plugin API with it.
