Swept surfaces made with SURFACEASSOCIATIVITY on keep their profile and
path and are written as a swept-surface action of the drawing's
associative network, reading the profile and path and their scale and
twist expressions. They follow edits of their sources.

Display gets a command line text colour (blank keeps the theme's); it
covers history, prompts and the input, while errors stay red. Files
lists the fonts folder that text resolution searches, so .shx files can
be added by hand; opening it creates it first.

- A blank script line outside a command repeats the last command through
dispatch_command, as the command line's empty Enter does.
- ZOOMFACTOR bound docs describe the SETVAR range the PR widened, and the
test keeps checking the value the Options field reaches.

- When the count area's boundary is gone the approved Invalid Area dialog
asks: undo the change (also its X and Cancel) or count all of model space;
"always" keeps the choice in the settings. An edited boundary moves the area.
- A table's *T block is brought up to date whenever the table changes.

The PR pinned the codec to its fork through [patch]; codec #75 is merged
upstream and main already points at it, so the patch section is dropped.
The two windows-sys features it adds (Globalization, Identity) stay.
The exponential camera step is the right call. `0.9 ^ delta` is strictly
positive for every real delta, in and out cancel exactly where the
subtraction lost a percent of the view on every round trip, and the file's
own header has promised an "exponential feel" since it was written. Three
surfaces were left behind it, and the wider range exposed a fourth thing.
The range of the system variable. 3 to 100 is the range ZOOMFACTOR has, and
the User Preferences page was built against it; `SETVAR ZOOMFACTOR` accepts
that and nothing else again. A faster wheel is the Options window's business
instead: the slider covers the variable's own range, the field beside it
reaches 500, and a read-out says what a notch actually does ("10.0% a
notch") so the number being set is readable rather than implied. A value
above 100 therefore lives only in this application's own configuration file,
where it is nobody else's to read, and a bare `SETVAR ZOOMFACTOR` still
reports it. The bounds and the clamp live in one place now
(`settings::clamp_zoom_factor`): four literal copies of `3, 100` are what
let a surface be missed in the first place.
A floating viewport in MSPACE. It zooms its own view through
`zoom_active_viewport`, which kept subtracting: the factor reached zero at
6.67 steps, so from ZOOMFACTOR 360 up every notch inside a viewport bottomed
out on the clamp — a tenfold jump a notch, and the top third of the slider
doing nothing at all. Exponential there too, from a base of 0.85 so the
default notch still moves a viewport the 15% it always has. Each surface
keeps its own long-standing feel rather than inheriting the other's.
The trackpad pinch. `pinch_zoom_steps` was calibrated against the
subtraction (`1 - step / 10 = 1 / (1 + m)`) so that a pinch of m leaves the
view exactly 1 + m times closer — the property docs/trackpad.md documents
and the reason the gesture tracks the fingers at all. Inverting the zoom law
by hand is what let the two drift apart, so the step is asked of the camera
now (`Camera::zoom_steps_for_ratio`), which cannot drift by construction.
`pinch_is_one_to_one` recomputed the old formula rather than the camera's,
so it kept passing through all of this; it zooms a real camera and measures
the distance it lands at instead.
Also: `zoom` had a floor and no ceiling, and zooming out multiplies. At
ZOOMFACTOR 500 a notch out is x2.4, so about ninety notches — a couple of
seconds of scrolling — ran the distance past what an f32 far plane
(`distance * 1000`) can hold, and the viewport went black on an infinite
projection. A degenerate pinch magnification of -1 or beyond reached the
same place through the other side. Both are bounded now.
Also: two doc comments quoted the linear law (`zoom_view_at_cursor` and the
one on `pinch_zoom_steps`), and docs/trackpad.md stated the pinch identity
and claimed the tests covered it against the camera. All updated, with what
a notch does and where each surface's range comes from written down.
Tests, each confirmed against the behaviour it describes: the zoom law at
every factor the application can hold (positive, monotonic in the setting,
in and out cancelling), the ceiling under a long scroll out in both
projections, the published inverse and what it does with a nonsense ratio,
the viewport factor and a real viewport zoomed three notches at the top of
the range, the SETVAR range including a value the Options field set, the
Options field (above 100, above the ceiling, cleared, not a number), its
agreement with the slider, Close putting both the value and the field back,
and the read-out's percentages. 1882 lib tests pass.
The two new Options strings are not in the locale catalog yet, so they
render in English until it is regenerated.

Rebuild the Blocks palette with Current Drawing / Recent / Favorites /
Libraries tabs, wildcard filter, six views, insertion options, click and
drop insertion and a block context menu. INSERT opens the palette, the
new -INSERT runs on the command line, the ribbon Insert button becomes a
block gallery, and BLOCKMRULIST, BLOCKREDEFINEMODE, BLOCKNAVIGATE,
BLOCKSTATE, EXPLMODE and INSNAME are added.

- The Frames list shows the drawing's frame state (hide / display and plot /
display but not plot / frames vary), follows commands, undo and document
switches, and lists the mixed state as a disabled item.
- DWFFRAME and DGNFRAME are frame variables of their own, kept in the header,
and FRAME sets them with the others.
- Out-of-range frame values say "Requires an integer between 0 and 2." and
ask again; a set value reports "Regenerating model.".
- IMAGEFRAME is stored in the image variables as bits (2 is written as 3) and
a drawing without them uses the profile value, which setting IMAGEFRAME
updates and the settings file keeps.
- Raster images, PDF underlays and wipeouts are picked on their frame only;
underlay snap geometry is never picked.

The bundled `opencad.python` plugin drives OCS through plugin API v7: all
43 canvas entity kinds, the drawing tables, and OCS's own commands run
step by step. RustPython stays in the plugin process — the plugin crate is
outside the workspace with its own lock file, so the application's own
dependencies are unchanged.
Reconciled with the plugin command work that landed as #1425, which the
branch was written before:
- Both added `impl Drop for PluginProcessInteractiveAdapter`, which git
merges silently into two impls that do not compile. One body now
cancels the command and then drops it from the runner, in that order: a
plugin waiting on a step has to be released before the runner forgets
the command.
- `execute_command` (#1425) and `run_command` (#1423) are both routes from
a script to the command line, and only the second was guarded. The
SCRIPTCOMMANDS switch and the denylist are shared now, so neither route
is the unguarded one.
- `run_command` dispatched with plugin dispatch still enabled, so a script
naming a plugin command re-entered the plugin that was blocked waiting
for it. It sets the suppression flag for the length of the dispatch, as
`execute_command` does.
The denylist read the command as typed, while the dispatcher resolves
aliases: a user-defined `Q` for `QUIT` (ALIASEDIT writes those) walked
past it. It resolves the alias first.
Also: the active-command comparison ran on every message, a mouse move
included, allocating two strings for names that are already `&'static
str`; SCRIPTCOMMANDS' own messages go through the translation macros; and
`docs/.DS_Store` (now ignored) and an unrelated RTF note about constraint
commands are out of the tree.

A saved user preference (on by default) toggled by the SCRIPTCOMMANDS command
gates HostApi::run_command; Cancel stays allowed so a waiting command is never
stranded. The runner refuses the SCRIPTCOMMANDS command itself, so a script
cannot change it. Documents why no helper-thread or stack-growing dependency was
added: native builds link with at least 8 MiB, the nesting depth is fixed, and the
deepest step found needs 2 to 4 MiB in a debug build.

A persisted ISODRAFT flag turned every drawing's crosshair into the
isoplane pair (one vertical, one diagonal arm) on every launch, with no
visible control to switch it back off — F5 (ISOPLANE) only cycles the
plane. Drop the flag when saving and ignore it when an old settings
file still carries it; turning it on stays a per-session choice.
nix build now succeeds. The hashes were placeholders before, so it
could not have.
Reading Cargo.toml for the git sources missed two of them: cryoglyph
and dpi come in through iced, which pins its own forks, and they only
appear in Cargo.lock. Six entries, not four. The comment says to
regenerate the list from the lock for that reason.
flake.lock is committed alongside, so a checkout resolves nixpkgs and
rust-overlay the same way next month as today.
Also asserts the snap default instead of leaving it to be eyeballed.
It is only visible in a fresh profile — the app persists settings on
change, so an existing settings.json keeps its own osmode and never
shows what a new install would do.
The running snap set was already seeded with endpoint, midpoint,
centre, node, quadrant, intersection and nearest, but the master
suppress bit was set, so none of them did anything until the user
found the status-bar pill. Snapping is what makes a drawing close
rather than nearly close; it should be live from the first click.
Only fresh configs change. A stored settings.json keeps whatever
osmode it already holds, and a legacy file carrying its own $OSMODE
still overrides on open.
The Snap and Grid tab showed static grid values with dead checkboxes, and every grid line stroked identically.
Grid X/Y spacing and Major-line-every are now editable inputs (validated 2-100 for majors, dirty-tracked, applied with an error message on bad input); Adaptive-grid and Display-beyond-Limits checkboxes are wired to live state. Every Nth line partitions into major_segments and strokes subtly brighter (1.5x alpha, 0.75px) for the reference hierarchy. GRIDMAJOR state persists to UserSettings. Covers partition, invalidation, and parse tests.
The viewport grid ignored the configured spacing and forced square grids: compute_grid_step hardcoded a 1.0 base, a single shared step drove both line families (including the tangent derivative used for gap measurement), and the display always clipped to LIMITS despite the beyond-Limits option.
Grid spacing now scales per-axis from GRIDUNIT via compute_grid_steps (adaptive 5x growth, fixed passthrough), GridParams carries step_x/step_y, snap tolerances follow the visible steps, and the LIMITS clip is skipped when beyond-Limits is set. Also fixes a per-axis overflow fallback that returned the X base for Y. Spacing state (X/Y, adaptive, beyond-Limits) is stored on the app and persisted to UserSettings at defaults; dialog wiring follows separately.
Comments and the Options help text describe the behaviour of commercial
solutions without naming any product. The command menu puts the command's
keywords directly under Enter / Cancel, with Recent Input and Snap
Overrides below them, so the choices that change from step to step are the
closest to the pointer.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The viewport context menu is now built from a pure model
(ui::popup::context_menu) rendered by the overlay: while a command runs it
offers Enter / Cancel / every keyword of the command's options() with the
keyword shown as a hint, a Recent Input submenu and M2P; when idle it offers
Repeat, Recent Input, Clipboard, Undo/Redo with history labels, the edit
block (Erase/Move/Copy/Scale/Rotate/Mirror/Draw Order), Isolate, Pan/Zoom,
selection tools, Properties and Options. The default row is anchored under
the pointer and the menu is keyboard-navigable (arrows, Enter, mnemonic
letters; any other key closes it and types into the command line).
Right-click behaviour is a user preference (Options → User Preferences,
SHORTCUTMENU / SHORTCUTMENUDURATION): shortcut menu (commercial solutions default),
time-sensitive, or the previous Enter-first cycle.
LINE gains options() (Close/Undo/eXit).

Grid snap locks to SNAPUNIT instead of magnetizing; snapped 3D points keep elevation instead of flattening to z=0. New SnapTypes Vertex/EdgeMidpoint/FaceCenter/Knot/FacePerpendicular/NearestFace with their own F4 master toggle and mode set, tiers, and markers, fully independent of the 2D master. Solid B-rep corners/edge-midpoints/face-centers from mesh edges and kernel faces, spline knot points, and live perpendicular/nearest-to-face on mesh triangles merged priority-aware in move/click paths. Drafting Settings 3D Object Snap tab is fully live (was dead placeholders); Nearest-to-face off by default. TDD: behavioral LINE-to-solid tests plus engine/scene unit tests.
Drafting Settings dialog gets text inputs for Snap X/Y spacing plus a working Equal X and Y checkbox (mirrored inputs, Y follows X on apply). Snapper gains fixed snap_spacing_x/y (persisted in UserSettings, default 10) decoupled from the adaptive visible-grid step. Grid snap no longer aperture-gated: with Snap On it rounds every point to the grid, object snaps still override by tier. Adds parse/lock regression tests.
- IMAGEEMBED: pack raster images into OLE2FRAME entities so a .dwg is
self-contained; 'Embed Image' entry in the XREF attach menu; control/MCP
op embed_image for external tools; dxf_name for OLE2FRAME queries.
- Scene: populate_images_from_document now rebuilds OLE2FRAME and PDF
underlay models too (they used to vanish after any XREF op).
- Printing: add PRINTER_ENUM_NETWORK pass when listing printers; GDI
spooler fallback (hayro raster at 300 DPI + StretchDIBits) for hosts
whose PDF handler registers no print verb; DEVMODE orientation with a
90-degree raster rotation fallback for v4 drivers; fix the fit-scale
precedence bug that printed blank pages.
- PDF export dialogs on Windows use the async file dialog so the native
overwrite confirmation no longer deadlocks the UI thread.
- Plot dialog: persist the chosen printer (saved on selection) and the
picked plot window across sessions; page setups with no device no
longer reset the output device.
- Community fonts: detect unresolvable .shx references on open and offer
a download from the repository's fonts/ folder (contribution guide in
fonts/README.md); custom font source URL setting for intranet font
servers; downloaded fonts resolve from the per-user fonts directory.
A day of pan/zoom that had suddenly become unusable on a 1.2M-entity
drawing turned out to be no regression at all: an unattended NVIDIA
userspace update had been applied without a reboot, the Vulkan ICD could
no longer talk to the still-loaded kernel module, and wgpu silently fell
through to Mesa's llvmpipe. Nothing in the app said so. iced picks the
adapter and names it only under RUST_LOG, so the only evidence was 32
`llvmpipe-N` threads in /proc. The same silence covers WARP on Windows,
SwiftShader in browsers, and the case where wgpu finds no adapter at all
and iced quietly draws the chrome with tiny-skia while the shader widget
is dropped, leaving a blank viewport. This commit makes all of that
visible, on every platform, without new dependencies.
Detection (src/scene/pipeline/mod.rs)
-------------------------------------
`GpuStatus` is derived from two signals:
* `record_gpu_adapter`, run from `MultiPipeline::new` (once per device,
next to the existing uncaptured-error handler), reads
`Device::adapter_info()`, prints one `[gpu] adapter: <name> (<backend>,
<device type>, driver …)` line — stderr natively, `console.warn` on the
web, which has no stderr — and keeps a copy.
* `note_scene_draw`, run from `ViewportPane::draw`, counts how often the
viewport asked for a primitive. Every renderer makes that call; only
wgpu goes on to `prepare` and create a device. Three draws with no
device ever recorded therefore mean the primitive is being dropped.
The verdict is one of `Unknown`, `Hardware`, `Software(adapter)` or
`NoRenderer`. `Software` is `DeviceType::Cpu` — what Vulkan reports for
llvmpipe, DX12 for WARP and GL for a renderer string that gives it away —
plus a name match on the fallbacks browsers expose (SwiftShader, llvmpipe,
lavapipe, "Microsoft Basic Render"), because the WebGPU backend reports
every adapter as `Other` (gfx-rs/wgpu#8819). Metal has no software device,
so on macOS only `NoRenderer` can occur (a VM without a GPU); it is caught
by the draw count like everywhere else.
`gpu_status_if_changed` costs one atomic load per app message: a
generation counter moves only when a device is recorded or the draw count
crosses its threshold, so the app re-derives the verdict a handful of
times per session.
Notification (src/app/startup.rs, view/modal.rs, ui/statusbar)
-------------------------------------------------------------
`refresh_gpu_status` runs after every message. On a degraded verdict it
speaks through three channels, because many users never read the command
line:
* A popup, `ModalKind::GpuWarning`, queued once per verdict through the
startup-modal queue so it waits its turn behind the file open. It names
the adapter, states the consequence (slow navigation, unstable or
missing rendering) and gives the remedy that usually applies on the
running platform: a driver update not yet followed by a reboot on
Linux, a missing driver or a Remote Desktop / VM session on Windows, a
VM without a Metal device on macOS, hardware acceleration switched off
in the browser. "Don't show again for this device" stores
`GpuStatus::identity()` in `settings.gpu_warning_silenced`; keying it by
verdict means silencing "software rendering on llvmpipe" does not
silence a later, different failure.
* A status-bar pill in the theme's warning colours, `⚠ Software rendering`
or `⚠ No GPU renderer`. It is not a `StatusPill`, so it cannot be hidden,
and it stays for the session; clicking it reopens the popup, silenced or
not.
* A command-line entry through the new `CommandLine::push_warning`, which
is styled like an error but deliberately does not touch `last_error` /
`error_revision`: automation reads those to decide whether the command it
just ran failed, and a graphics warning is not a failed command.
`subscription()` requests frames only while the verdict is `Unknown` on a
document tab (the Start page draws no viewport), so the probe costs one
frame on a working GPU, three on none, then stops.
Verification
------------
* Live on the machine that had the incident, with the Vulkan loader
restricted to Mesa (`VK_DRIVER_FILES=…/lvp_icd.json WGPU_BACKEND=vulkan`):
popup → OK → pill → click reopens; "Don't show again" → restart → pill
only, no popup.
* `gpu_tests::the_adapter_is_reported_once_per_device` (ignored, needs an
adapter) asserts the classification on a real device; it was run on both
llvmpipe (`Cpu`) and an NVIDIA GT 1030 (`DiscreteGpu`).
* Unit tests cover the name heuristic, the verdict function, the identity
rule, the warning text with an adapter name that itself contains
parentheses and commas, the settings round trip and the command-line
semantics. New strings are in all 21 locales as the `gpu` Fluent group.

value toggle, and redesigned constraint-ribbon icons
Properties panel:
- New "Parameters" section (shown with no selection) listing every named
parameter with inline name/formula editing, add, and delete, backed by
new PropValue::ParamRow/ParamAddRow and command_driver handlers
(resolve_named_parameter_edit, on_prop_param_commit/_delete/_add_new).
A fresh parameter's formula now defaults to "1", not "0" — a 0-length
seed value is a genuine solver singularity for a Distance constraint
driven by that parameter, with no defined direction to grow back out of.
- New "Constraints" section (shown for a single selected entity) listing
every constraint touching it as a clickable PropValue::EntityLink that
selects the linked entities in the viewport, danger-tinted when the
constraint conflicts.
Constraint pills:
- New Options > General toggle, "Show values and parameter names on
constraint markers" (on by default, persisted). Off, every pill shows
just its bare glyph instead of glyph+driven-value/parameter-name — the
glyph alone is enough to see a constraint is present, without the value
text covering nearby geometry on a dense sketch.
Constraint-ribbon icons:
- Replaced all 18 unicode/letter glyph icons (including the plain "F",
"L", "M", "S" letters) with proper SVGs under assets/icons/constrain/,
matching the Modify section's two-color style (#B4B6B9 white / #6DB7ED
blue, consistent stroke width). Tangent reuses the Draw section's
white-arc-plus-blue-dots motif.
