mesh.hex.blocks: one conforming hex mesh of a design split into blocks
Meshes the open design's bodies (or the listed ones) as the cells of one conforming all-hex mesh with one size and tessellation tolerance for all; elements carry their cell's body, boundary faces its B-rep faces. A cell that is no block, or cells that touch without sharing whole faces, is an error naming the bodies. Catalogue entry with its VectorCraft icon, the MCP mesh tool's hex_blocks method, docs/features.md. Lattice Boltzmann flow on the CPU: model, solver, engine (M12) (#36)
Model: Newtonian fluid materials; fluid domains (box, spacing, conditions on the box faces, obstacle bodies with conditions on their named faces, initial velocity, body acceleration); fluid steps with caps. Deck writers refuse fluid steps; a fluid-only model needs no mesh in model.check; one step selector (Model::select_step) for every solver. New L2 crate modelcraft-lbm: D3Q19 two-relaxation-time collision with Guo forcing; halfway bounce-back walls (moving walls after Ladd), slip faces, periodic pairs; Zou–He velocity and pressure faces with the D3Q19 transverse correction; obstacles voxelised from the face-tagged boundary surface with exact predicates and symbolic perturbation; momentum-exchange forces per box face and per B-rep face; unit conversion, automatic time step and Mach/tau limits; bounded runs with frames and force histories. Engine: model.fluid_domain.create/edit/delete, model.fluid_domain.boundary, solve.fluid (obstacles from the open design or imported surfaces, lowerable caps), solve.probe for fluid fields and wall force histories. Fluid Domain, Inlet & Outlet and Lattice Boltzmann toolbar entries are ready. Verification (analytic): plane Poiseuille exact with Λ = 3/16 and second order (2.000) with Λ = 1/4; Couette exact with the wall shear; Taylor–Green decay second order (2.01, 2.00); staircase pipe; Stokes drag of a sphere array within 1.7% of Hasimoto at R = 6; Zou–He channel; mass conserved to round-off; bit-for-bit reproducibility. Benchmark: Schäfer–Turek 2D-1. Results display (M4) and offscreen full-UI capture (#28)
* ui.capture: the whole window drawn offscreen and rasterised on the CPU ui.screenshot falls back to it when no frame is presented (hidden window, locked screen), so agents can look at panels and the toolbar. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01NmAttHhUZTokgPeEJia8sm * Draw the open design and imported surfaces in the viewport DisplayMesh keeps node labels on every element primitive (for results), gains add_surface (geometry faces and their boundaries, coincident points welded) and displaced (elements moved by nodal offsets). Bodies are tessellated at a thousandth of their size; meshed models show the geometry as boundaries only. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01NmAttHhUZTokgPeEJia8sm * results.* commands: deformed shape, contours, mode shapes, animation, reaction sums The results display is session state (ResultsView), set by commands that are not edits. Nodal fields (displacement, von Mises, principal and component stresses; principal stresses in closed form after Smith 1961) and reaction force and moment sums per set. Results kept from an earlier revision stay viewable, marked stale; solve.probe says when a result is stale. The Results tab's display and reaction entries are ready. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01NmAttHhUZTokgPeEJia8sm * Results display: deformed shape, contours with legend, mode shapes and animation, probe, reaction sums The viewport draws the session's results view: elements moved by their nodes' displacements or a mode shape (automatic or given scale), faces split exactly along contour band boundaries into flat-coloured pieces (same on GPU and CPU), a legend with levels and extremes, a results panel whose controls run the results.* commands, a click probing the nearest node (solve.probe), and stale results marked. Solving from the form shows the result on the Results tab. sample::cantilever is a solvable model for tests and demos. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01NmAttHhUZTokgPeEJia8sm * Simplify the results display (review) One Contour in the plot; the results scene reuses scene::build; a solve shows its result through the engine (ResultsView::for_result) and the UI raises the Results tab when a view appears; the plot's scale and contour values are kept across animation frames; design bodies are tessellated once per design; the first content is framed where the display is rebuilt; field_values in one match; probe reuses results::displacements. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01NmAttHhUZTokgPeEJia8sm * Results display for explicit steps: field frames, energy histories The results view works on the engine's step results (static, frequency, explicit): ResultsView.frame and results.frame {frame | time} pick an explicit field frame; the deformed shape (true scale) and contours (element stresses averaged to the nodes, velocity) follow it; animation runs through the frames. The Results panel has a frame slider and plots the kinetic, internal, hourglass and external energies with their values at the frame. sample::impact is a steel bar flying onto a rigid wall. The .modelcraft file, undo/redo on the journal, atomic saves and autosave recovery (M3) (#21)
* modelcraft-io: the .modelcraft file (modelcraft/1), atomic writes, autosave storage A stored ZIP of a manifest (format tag, geometry sources with SHA-256, part sizes and hashes), the model definition as stable pretty JSON, the mesh and geometry tags in a compact binary part, and the journal one command per line. Reading caps every size, checks every checksum and replays the model through its checked methods. Model::without_mesh and empty mesh fields left out of the model's JSON; geometry::read_file. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01NmAttHhUZTokgPeEJia8sm * engine: undo/redo on the journal, file.open/save/save_as, autosave and recovery CommandSpec gains a kind: Model commands are journalled and become undo steps; Session commands (file.*, edit.*) manage the session. Undo history is bounded by steps and estimated memory. Geometry sources are recorded with content hashes and reopened on file.open (missing or changed files are warnings). Desktop app autosaves every 30 s and reports recoverable models; Ctrl/Cmd+Z and Shift+Z/Y undo and redo. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01NmAttHhUZTokgPeEJia8sm * docs: the .modelcraft format, undo history, roadmap and parity status Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01NmAttHhUZTokgPeEJia8sm * simplify: shared path parameter, one load path for open/recover, history accounting in History Session commands skip the per-command model copy; saved revision is an Option; journal written from borrowed entries and read without an intermediate tree; backups copied by the file system; recovery lock and error helpers; geometry file wrappers use read_file. Face-tagged 3MF exchange: format spec, reader, geometry.import.mesh
docs/formats/tagged-mesh.md defines the exchange: 3MF Core with an optional ft:face attribute per triangle (and ft:faces per object) in a ModelCraft namespace. modelcraft_geometry::tagged_mesh::read_3mf reads it from bytes (wasm), capping every size and count and range-checking every index and coordinate. geometry.import.mesh adds the surfaces to the session, which keeps them beside the open design and restores them when a command fails. Open .solidcraft designs: rebuild, persistent face names, geometry commands (#4)
* geometry: open .solidcraft designs, rebuild them and keep persistent face names open_design(bytes) reads a design (container or JSON) with solidcraft-io, rebuilds its timeline with solidcraft-doc and returns its bodies; each Shape carries SolidCraft's persistent face names by B-rep face index, so a face keeps its name through a parameter edit. sample::plate_design builds a parametric test plate in code. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01NmAttHhUZTokgPeEJia8sm * engine: geometry.open, geometry.bodies and geometry.tessellate The session holds the open design (shared, restored on a failed command, journalled when it changes). Hostile-params coverage includes non-files, missing files, oversized paths and extreme tolerances against an open design. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01NmAttHhUZTokgPeEJia8sm * docs: opening SolidCraft designs in the architecture and roadmap Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01NmAttHhUZTokgPeEJia8sm * geometry: open_design_file reads through SolidCraft's bounded file access; simplify The engine's hand-rolled capped read is replaced by open_design_file, which uses solidcraft_io::vfs::read (refuses non-regular files before opening, works on the browser's in-memory files). Drops the duplicate size check, simplifies the sample sketch and the design-change test in Session::execute. ModelCraft foundation: workspace, quality gates, FE model, command engine, geometry boundary
A pure-Rust CAE modeling workspace following the SolidCraft conventions: - modelcraft-model: nodes and elements by label with hostile-input validation - modelcraft-geometry: SolidCraft's kernel (pinned git dependency) behind our own API; tessellation into a face-tagged boundary surface for volume meshing - modelcraft-engine: CommandSpec registry, Session::execute with rollback and panic guard, scripts and a journal - modelcraft-cli: list commands, run scripts - xtask: layers (only geometry may use solidcraft-*), assets, licences, tests, wasm, ci - AGENTS.md, architecture, ADR 0001 (libraries and licences), roadmap, CI Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01NmAttHhUZTokgPeEJia8sm |
