A design with components and joints exports as a URDF robot description (file.export to .urdf, the MCP export tool, solidcraft-cli run --out, File > Export URDF...). It writes one binary STL per component in metres, links with mass, centre of mass and inertia from material density, and maps rigid, revolute, slider, cylindrical, pin-slot, planar and ball joints to URDF joints or short chains. Loops, broken joints and loose parts are reported as warnings. Options: mesh_prefix, effort, velocity. Docs in docs/urdf.md.
Agent tool calls (MCP, and bridged control requests carrying allow_paths) reach files only in the open design's folder (strictly inside home or the temporary folder, not in a hidden folder, and never its hidden files), the app's recovery folder, the server's private scratch folder and each --allow-path; --allow-any-path lifts the limit. Paths are resolved first, so .. and symlinks that lead out (including a save through a link, #845) are refused. On Windows, UNC, device, NT, verbatim non-drive, drive-relative, alternate-stream, reserved-device and 8.3 short-name paths are refused before any file system call, and the resolved path must be on a local drive. doc.recovery_discard and doc.recover {discard} delete only real recovery entries. Docs: mcp.md, control-protocol.md, README.
As soon as a pick settles the dimension (one line, circle or arc, or the second point or line of a distance or angle), its value box takes the keyboard with the measured value selected. The text follows the cursor while typing and Enter places it there (or in its default place), as one undo step. A click before typing pins the text and keeps the box focused, a click on another entity makes a distance or angle, Tab hands back to placing first, Esc cancels. Letters go into the box, not to tool shortcuts.

The `pi` story of examples/demo/enclosure_ui_mcp.py keeps the 0.6 flow and adds the rim
rounded in one pick (a tangent chain), "Pi 4" engraved in the floor in DejaVu Sans Bold, and a
PETG material defined in the design, with its mass in Properties, before the height change.
The 0.6 story stays as `pi-0.6` (it built demo/pi-case). The center rectangle now comes from
the Rectangle drop-down. The finished case is in the action matrix corpus as
demo/pi-case-0.8.
docs/screenshots/demo-0.8.gif (9.3 MB) and demo-0.8.mp4 (9.9 MB) replace the 0.6 files: 41 s
at 9x playback.

Refs #303. file.save / file.save_as can store a warm native geometry cache (cache: true, off by default) keyed to the document hash, app version and adapter revision. Opening shows a bounded preview from it until the rebuilt session replaces it. Any cache failure counts as a miss.
Replace the 0.2.1 enclosure recording with a 40 s take of the current desktop UI building a Raspberry Pi 4 case: a sketch dimensioned with the board's parameters, extrude, fillets and shell, an M2.5 standoff patterned on the 58 x 49 mm hole rectangle, port cut-outs, floor vents, a colour, then height 24 -> 32 mm in Parameters. The demo script gains the pi story (now the default).

The README called the solver damped Gauss–Newton. It now places what the
constraints fix by construction (loci intersections and rigid-cluster
decomposition, after Owen 1991 and Fudos–Hoffmann 1997) and runs
Levenberg–Marquardt on the rest, with the rank of its Jacobian giving the
remaining degrees of freedom. The constraint list also gains the ones it was
missing (point on curve, curvature, point-to-line, arc sweep, arc length, slot
length), and live drags are described.

* Snap package: build, test and attach a strict snap to every release
packaging/linux/snap/snapcraft.yaml (core24, strict, gnome extension) repackages
the release's Linux tarball like the Flatpak does. The release workflow builds it
for amd64 and arm64, installs it with --dangerous, models a box in the confined
app on headless X11 and Wayland, and attaches solidcraft-<version>-linux-<arch>.snap
plus the version-less copy. When SNAPCRAFT_STORE_CREDENTIALS is set, nightlies go
to edge and release drafts to candidate, and snap-store.yml promotes candidate to
stable when a release is published. The README gets a Snap badge and install line.

Badges and one-line instructions for Windows, macOS, Linux and the web app,
right after the tagline and demo. The links use releases/latest/download with
version-less file names, which release.yml now attaches (and checksums)
alongside the versioned installers. The Flatpak note and the name/compatibility
section move into the book's Getting started page.

* Release under the SolidCraft name: binaries, assets and installers
The desktop binary is now `solidcraft` and the CLI `solidcraft-cli` (the two app packages
are renamed; their folders move with the rest of the rename later). Every release asset is
named solidcraft-<ver>-… / SolidCraft-<ver>-windows-x64.exe, and the installers show the
SolidCraft product name.
Kept so existing installs keep updating (docs/compatibility.md):
- `solvecraft-cli` alias binary in every package, forwarding to solidcraft-cli with a
deprecation note on stderr (tests/legacy_alias.rs).
- Linux app ID ai.storyteller.solvecraft (Flatpak ID, desktop entry, Wayland app_id).
- MSI UpgradeCode, so the MSI upgrades in place.
- deb Replaces/Conflicts/Provides and rpm Obsoletes/Provides solvecraft.
- An old-named .zsync copy so earlier AppImages find updates; a legacy .flatpakrepo copy.
- .solvecraft file associations; SOLVECRAFT_* fallbacks in the packaging scripts.

The space_mouse module was Windows-only (hidapi). On Linux it now finds the
multi-axis HID interface through /sys/class/hidraw and reads /dev/hidrawN with
plain std I/O, so there is no new dependency and no libudev needed.
A small report descriptor parser tells devices apart: a top-level Multi-Axis
Controller collection marks the 3D mouse, and report 1 declaring all six axes
selects the combined layout (X Y Z Rx Ry Rz in one report) that some homemade
devices use. Real split devices (report 1 translation, report 2 rotation) keep
their existing decoding. Windows reads the descriptor through hidapi and falls
back to the split layout if it is unavailable.

- Remove xtask/data/fusion-catalog.tsv and xtask/data/fusion-ids.tsv.
- Remove the legacy command-id table (crates/engine/src/legacy_ids.rs) and its use in
find_command and in the shortcut, recents and pinned-command loaders. Only SolidCraft's
dotted ids name commands; any other id is an unknown command.
- Boundary Fill's id becomes solid.boundary_fill.
- Replace the parity report with SolidCraft's own feature checklist: `cargo xtask features`
writes docs/features.md from the command registry.
- docs/oracle.md, docs/step-import.md (corpus section) and docs/iges-import.md: reference
results are being rebuilt on analytic and open-source (FreeCAD) values; see #292.
`cargo xtask oracle` and `cargo xtask step-corpus [--iges]` write these placeholders.
- AGENTS.md, CLAUDE.md, CONTRIBUTING.md, README.md, ROADMAP.md and the book describe
SolidCraft as independent, with reference tests on analytic values and open-source tools,
and agents do not drive or extract data from commercial CAD products.

The oracle no longer uses Fusion measurements. tests/oracle/<case>/ now holds the 76 recipes
(our own format, with recorded measurements and tool-specific fields removed) and an
expected.json per case:
- 55 analytic cases: closed-form values from tools/oracle-analytic/ (stdlib Python, formulas
in each case's "method").
- 21 FreeCAD cases: the same recipe built with FreeCAD's public scripting API by
tools/freecad-oracle/ (an external program, not a dependency), with a reference.stl for 20.
solvecraft-cli oracle compares body count, volume, area, centre of mass, bbox, face counts
where the geometry fixes them, and, against reference.stl, the sampled Hausdorff distance and
the principal moments (spatial.rs from #301). cargo xtask oracle reads tests/oracle, writes
docs/oracle.md with the source of each value, and supports known_failure marks for tracked
bugs. CI runs it on every PR; a manual workflow regenerates the FreeCAD values. step-corpus,
seam normalisation and the through-all emulation, which only existed to compare with Fusion,
are removed.
75/76 pass; 75-sm-bracket-holes is a known failure (#296).

Record ownership transfers in the timeline so earlier Join/Cut membership,
world placement, machining data and styles survive component moves, edits,
independent copying, undo and reopening. Preserve pending positions in history
snapshots and keep constructor transfers ordered during feature redefinition.
Retain shallow sheet pockets and exact planar intersection islands through
unfold/refold, with depth-aware flat previews and DXF export. Store explicit
3D wire coordinate spaces and migrate known legacy provenance without moving
saved points or analytic fits.
Infer unique eligible cylindrical Emboss targets, align Revolve manipulators
with actual extent geometry, and discard obsolete preview errors after input
correction. Certify constructed and immutable imported face styles using exact
source metadata while preserving legacy face names. Upgrade designs to format10
with bounded validation and geometry-preserving legacy migration.
An mdBook under docs/book: a user guide (getting started, UI tour, sketching, features,
parameters, components and joints, sheet metal, plastic, files, shortcuts, MCP) and a developer
guide (CONTRIBUTING, architecture, command engine, kernel boundary, persistent naming, test
harnesses, and the existing docs/*.md pages). `cargo xtask book` generates the command reference
from `solvecraft-cli commands` and renders the screenshots with `solvecraft-cli snapshot`, then
runs mdbook. .github/workflows/pages.yml publishes the book at /solvecraft/ and the web app at
/solvecraft/app/ (skipped while the repository is private). .github/workflows/ci.yml runs
`cargo xtask ci` on pull requests. README and Help → Documentation link to the book.

The old ids live only in crates/engine/src/legacy_ids.rs (the legacy migration table): find_command maps them, so old scripts, recipes and control calls keep working, and saved shortcuts, recent and pinned commands are migrated on load (designs store no command ids). Parity maps the observed catalog ids to ours through xtask/data/fusion-ids.tsv. The agent rule now reads: our own dotted id, never another product's. Cargo.toml's repository points at github.com/bherbruck/solvecraft.

- IGES import (kernel iges_in, from the published specification). The file
is restated as STEP and read by the STEP reader, so an IGES file becomes
the same Import base feature.
- Manifold solid B-reps (186/514/510/508/504/502).
- Trimmed (144), bounded (143) and bare B-spline surfaces, sewn into a
solid by shared edges, with face orientation made consistent.
- Curves: lines, arcs, ellipses, composite and rational B-spline curves.
- Surfaces: planes, analytic surfaces 190-198, B-spline surfaces,
surfaces of revolution and tabulated cylinders.
- Transformations, units, colours, names (406 form 15 or labels).
Open, insert and drop .igs/.iges like STEP.
- IGES export (kernel iges_out): each body as a manifold solid B-rep on the
surfaces a STEP export uses, with name properties and colours.
ExportCommand to .igs.
- OBJ import as mesh bodies: objects/groups, polygons fanned, negative
indices, bad lines reported.
- STL: binary files whose header starts with "solid" and those with a zero
triangle count read as binary; non-finite vertices dropped; facet
normals ignored; ASCII with non-UTF-8 names. Mesh bodies get consistent
winding (stray inverted facets turned over).
- Tests: primitives and features round-trip through IGES (volume, area,
name, colour). Six trimmed patches sew into a closed box. Hostile IGES,
OBJ and STL inputs never panic. STL quirks. The engine exports a design
to IGES and opens it again. All 76 oracle parts round-trip through IGES
with matching volume (local check).

- Surfaces of revolution follow ISO 10303-42 strictly in reader and writer: the
normal is d/d(angle) x d/d(profile), the opposite of truck's revolution, as
Fusion reads it (fixes Fusion inverting fillet sphere corners and the dimple).
step_orientation_errors flags faces whose loop runs clockwise round their
normal; engine, oracle and kernel round trips assert it.
- Revolved faces with analytic profiles are written as native PLANE,
CYLINDRICAL/CONICAL/SPHERICAL/TOROIDAL surfaces, and the pieces truck splits
a revolution into are merged back into one face per surface (with a seam
edge for full turns), so face counts match other systems.
- A horn torus (tight sweep: tube touching its axis) is written as one rational
B-spline face whose loop passes the pole twice, with truck's zero-length pole
edges collapsed, instead of a degenerate surface of revolution; the reader
starts such figure-eight loops off the pole (Fusion's own part 50 now imports
with the right volume).

Our writer assembles the file: AP242 header and contexts, a product per part
(or per component, with NEXT_ASSEMBLY_USAGE_OCCURRENCE and item-defined
placements per occurrence), named solids, surface colours as styled items,
ADVANCED_FACE for advanced breps. truck now writes only each body's B-rep,
which we copy in; identical geometric entities are written once and shared.
Designs with components export as assemblies (bodies in component frames).
step_validate also rejects unreferenced non-root entities. Tests: the sample
plate and a component assembly export, validate and read back with no
warnings and the same volume, area and face counts; the oracle replay checks
area and faces too (39 rebuildable cases pass). An independent Part 21
parser (step-p21, run outside the repo) accepts our exports.

Export: ExportCommand/CLI --out/MCP export with .3mf write a 3MF Core package
([Content_Types].xml, _rels/.rels, 3D/3dmodel.model; millimetres), one
mesh object and build item per body, named after it, vertices shared and
welded watertight (T-junctions between faces split), base-material colours
when bodies carry one (STEP colours now ride on bodies). Tessellation as
for STL. File > Export 3MF.
Import: doc.open/drag-drop/CLI/MCP open accept .3mf and .stl; Insert Mesh
(ParaMeshInsertAlignCommand) adds them to a design as a MeshImport feature.
Kernel mesh bodies render, measure exactly, move and export; solid
features refuse them with a clear error. 3MF reading flattens components
and build transforms, converts units, reads colours; sizes, entries,
nesting and element counts are capped.

Import base feature (FeatureKind::Import, timeline type BaseFeature) holding
the STEP text and the file's product tree; bodies named from the file.
doc.open accepts .step/.stp (any case) as a new design; Insert STEP
(FusionImportCommandFromToolbar) adds one to the current design; File menu,
SOLID > INSERT, drag-and-drop (insert into a non-empty design, else open),
'solvecraft part.step', MCP open. Features (fillet, hole, sketch-on-face
cut, shell) work on imported bodies. Imports are cached so a file is read
once per command. Measure tightens its chord tolerance for small radii.
