bherbruckandClaude Opus 5.5 9a07932f20 Design format: a change is one new file, never an edit to FORMAT (#1563)
A PR that saves something new adds crates/doc/src/format/pending/<name>.rs (a note, and an upgrade step if older designs must be rewritten). The build writes the next format number while changes are pending and lists them in format_pending; scripts/fold-format-pending.sh fixes them as v<N>/ at release time. Formats 23 and 24 move into v23/ and v24/.

bherbruckandClaude Opus 5.5 27529d9742 Imports become components; STEP assemblies as nested components (#1386) (#1426)
* Imports become components: a STEP assembly's tree as nested components (#1386)

Every imported file (STEP, IGES, 3MF, STL, OBJ: inserted, dropped, opened as a
design, or file.insert_step / file.insert_mesh / doc.open from scripts, the CLI
and MCP) now comes in as a new component named after the file, with its Import
feature inside it. A STEP assembly's products become nested components; a part
placed more than once is one component with an occurrence per placement, and
the Import feature skips the file's later copies (`skip`, format 21 note). The
contents are held as one rigid group (rigid joints, glyphs hidden); moving an
inner part is refused until component.unlock ("Unlock Contents") releases it.
Y up turns the import's component. Replies report component, component_name
and occurrence. Undo is one step; designs with loose imports are unchanged.

Irakli Kourtis 5fa8e7d60a Sweep: orientation, twist and end scale (#1269)
Part of #771 and #772. solid.sweep and surface.sweep take orientation (perpendicular, parallel or a direction), twist (up to 4 turns) and end scale (0.01 to 100), applied about the profile's normal through the path's start; default options run the old sweep, so existing sweeps are unchanged. New fields are optional, left out when unset and noted under format 21; twist and scale are model parameters. Both sweep dialogs get Orientation, Twist and End Scale rows; labels in every catalog. Checked on main + this branch: cargo check --workspace, kernel/engine/UI sweep tests, the doc suite and the robustness goldens.

Karl Von RichterandKarl-VonRichter 1ec33fcdc7 Extrude: a symmetric distance is the total thickness (#1260)
A symmetric solid extrude of 10 mm is now 10 mm thick, 5 mm each side of the sketch plane, and switching from One Side to Symmetric keeps the thickness entered. Under format 21 the extent records its convention; designs saved without it keep the per-side reading, so their geometry and parameters don't change. Fixes #1236.

JIJINBEIandjijinbei 464a6dfad4 Feature walks: generate them from field roles with #[derive(Walk)] (#1251)
The three walks over a feature (expressions, references, geometry) are generated from FeatureKind by #[derive(Walk)] in a new proc-macro crate, solidcraft-derive, from #[walk(...)] attributes written next to each field. The hand-written walks in params.rs, feature_refs.rs and feature_geometry.rs are gone; Ruled Surface and Extend have their attributes, and the three golden walk records are unchanged.

Irakli Kourtis b4edf05373 Extend any surface: natural, tangent and curvature, up to a target (#760) (#1166)
Extend works on any surface: natural (continuing the face's own surface), tangent (G1 run-off) or curvature (G2 run-off), by a distance, up to a plane or face, or back to the surface's bounds, with neighbouring edges lengthened to meet. Untrim and Extend share face parameter-loop helpers. The new SurfaceExtend fields are noted under format 21. Closes #760.

selune 289b521a65 Render R2: persist named render setups without re-evaluating geometry (#667)
render.settings.set saves validated named render setups (camera, output size, exposure, environment) as one undo step, and render.settings.get reads them back without applying a camera. When validated render settings are the only change, the engine keeps the evaluated model instead of rebuilding it. Setups are saved under design format 21; format-20 designs read as having none. bherbruckandClaude Opus 5.5 6de8f6db95 Agent-built designs: stop redoing whole-design work on every command (#1148)
A design built over MCP is many small commands, and each one did work over the
whole design, so building or showing a 1,300-body design took minutes:

- moved components were transformed and meshed again after every change; world_state
now reuses each placed body whose definition and placement are unchanged
- next_d_name searched the design once per candidate number
- Document::eval evaluated every parameter for every expression; now only when the
  expression names one
- param_rows' used_by was quadratic; the desktop no longer gathers completions on every
change while no text box has focus

solidcraft-cli bench-agent builds a generated ~1,300-body bicycle command by command
and times it (241 s -> 16 s here). Eval output is unchanged apart from timings.

Lasse Lianandnekomario28 1ac8bf4aa8 Repair next_id and reject duplicate ids on load (#1050)
Loading a design raises next_id above the largest feature, component and occurrence id, so a missing or stale value can't hand a new item an id already in use, and duplicate ids are rejected as a damaged design. Id allocation uses checked_add, so an exhausted id space is an error instead of a wrap or a panic.

Lasse LianandSychPL ec8e739aad Export a design's timeline as a replayable command script (#1045)
timeline.export_script (and solidcraft-cli script) writes a design's history as a command script that solidcraft-cli eval replays into the same design, so a bug that only shows on one design becomes a one-file repro. timeline.add restores one stored feature with its id, names and references, through the same checks a design file gets when it opens.

inputs_mut, inputs and expressions are now built on one exhaustive walk (walk_exprs / walk_exprs_mut) instead of two hand-written matches over FeatureKind. inputs() no longer clones the feature, plane chains are walked with the same nesting cap for inputs as for expressions, and a new variant without a walk arm does not compile. NOWN-DEVandClaude Opus 5.5 fb4c1d74b9 feat: edge flanges with their own angle and height per edge (#447)
One edge flange feature gave all its flanges one height and one angle. A
part whose flanges lean differently took one feature per angle, and
flanges of separate features don't close toward each other, so its
corners stayed open.

- sheet.flange (edge): an entry of `edges` is a point [x, y, z] as before,
or {point, angle?, height?} whose angle and height (expressions, checked
like the feature's) replace the feature's for that edge. Bad input is
refused with the edge named. Before, the object form was read for its
point and the rest was ignored without a word.
- The feature stores its edges as FlangeEdge. An edge without values of
its own is written as the plain point it always was, so designs without
them are read and written as before; an unknown key in an edge is
  refused, not dropped.
- The edges' values are feature inputs of their own (Edge angle, Edge
height, after the feature's), so parameters, renames and
parameters.change reach them. timeline.edit names the edges again when
it changes them, so each value stays with its edge.
- SheetBody::add_flanges_each trims every edge by its own setback and
adds the flanges. The corners between them close as between equal
flanges: the closing already works from the two flanges it joins (each
one's fold and leg), so the flat pattern follows by hand from the
angles, the heights and the rule (the tests derive it).
- The Flange dialog shows a row per picked edge with an angle and a
height box (empty: the dialog's value) once more than one edge is
picked, and brings them back on Edit Feature.

c62879b00d feat: fillet fit option reduces a radius too large for its edges (#388)
* feat(kernel): typed TooLarge refusal and fillet_max search

Blend refusals caused only by the size (larger than the neighbouring faces,
taller than the walls, longer than the next edge, larger than a corner
radius) now return KernelError::TooLarge, displayed as before. fillet_max
finds the largest radius below a request at which the fillet of the edges
works, to three significant digits, by building candidates; it is an explicit
call (up to 16 fillets), not run on every refusal.

A corner edge that doesn't run square to the edge is now reported as such
instead of as a blend larger than the neighbouring faces.

* feat: fillet fit option reduces a radius too large for its edges

solid.fillet takes fit: exact (the default, as before: a radius too large
for the geometry around the edges is refused) or reduce: the radius is
reduced to the largest that works for all the picked edges (kernel
fillet_max, three significant digits, every candidate built). The feature
stores the requested radius, so it refits on every evaluation; when it
reduces, the feature's warning says so and the command returns
radius_applied. Pattern copies of the fillet use the same rule. The file
format writes fit only when it is reduce.

The Fillet dialog gets a Radius Fit row (Exact / Reduce to Fit, constant
radius) and, when the preview reduced the radius, an Applied Radius line;
editing the feature keeps the choice.

One radius for all edges for now; per-edge radii and taper follow.

Iraklis KourtisandClaude Opus 5.5 fe4d171e22 feat(sketch): live drag that keeps its solution, ended by sketch.drag_end (#341)
* feat(sketch): constructive solving ahead of the numeric solver

Part 1 of splitting #251: the sketch crate only. A graph-constructive front
end (Owen 1991; Fudos & Hoffmann 1997) places what it can by ruler-and-compass
loci and cluster decomposition, Levenberg-Marquardt finishes and verifies the
rest, and the rank analysis stays authoritative for degrees of freedom. Solves
can follow a reference (the previous solution), so edits and drags keep their
branch instead of flipping.

New API: solve_with (hold, reference, analysis, budget) and
solve_after_value_edit; solve and solve_holding keep their signatures as
wrappers, so no caller changes here.

When the seed moves an arc's centre, the arc's unconstructed ends start carried
along (the arc translates) instead of left behind for LM to turn; found by the
reference test 20-slot-constrained.

* feat(doc): keep a sketch's solved state across value edits

Part 2 of splitting #251 (builds on part 1, the sketch crate):
- Sketch edits solve for the document's values continuing from the stored
solved state (Document::solve_sketch), so a dimension edit keeps the
sketch's branch instead of re-solving from scratch.
- A value edit (parameters, a configuration, the units) that would make a
sketch that solved before fail or turn over is refused with the
conflicting constraints named; otherwise the solved sketches are written
back into the document (Model::adopt_solved_sketches), which changes what
  saved designs store.
- Later features are keyed by a sketch's solved geometry (to a 1e-6 mm
quantum), so setting a value back reuses their earlier results.
- Solved sketches in a model state are shared (Arc) between states.

* feat(sketch): live drag that keeps its solution, ended by sketch.drag_end

Part 3 of splitting #251 (builds on part 2):
- sketch.drag follows a long move in short held steps, so the geometry keeps
its branch, and reports how far it got (reached, at).
- live: true runs one frame of an interactive drag: the sketch is solved
once and shown, later features keep their last result (marked stale)
until sketch.drag_end or any command that reads the model evaluates it
  (CommandSpec::live, reads_model, doc_only).
- sketch.drag_end adds the constraint the drag let go on and evaluates the
  model once.
- Undo and redo evaluate a new document once (execute does) instead of
  twice.
- The viewport drives drags through live frames and drag_end; dimension
text drags start only off sketch geometry.

Iraklis KourtisandClaude Opus 5.5 a9efae864d fix(doc): designs saved before format 14 keep their piece names (#136)
Pieces a cut splits a body into are named after their faces since names
follow history (lineage::order_lumps), so they keep their body names when
an upstream edit moves the cut. The kernel's shell order named them
before, and the two orders can differ: a slot along X through a 40x30x10
block swaps Body1 and Body1 (1). A design saved by an older build stores
body names meaning the old order (fillet and chamfer bodies, targets,
participants, materials, appearances, joints), so it would act on the
other piece.

Each feature now says which order names its pieces
(Feature::shell_piece_order). The v13 to v14 step sets it on every saved
feature, so an older design evaluates as it was saved; features made from
now on, in new or old designs, name their pieces after their faces.

The corpus gains split-body-pieces, saved by v0.3.2: a fillet, a chamfer
and an appearance refer to the two pieces by body name. Without the
setting the two pieces swap names (the corpus test fails); with it they
stay as saved. Migration tests that compared an upgraded design with the
original now expect the setting on its features.
