Pressing on a selected object (away from its grips) and dragging runs
MOVE on the selection from the grabbed point, and the release is the
destination, so the drag gets the command's preview, snaps and ortho.
With Ctrl the drag runs COPY and places one copy. A press that does not
move stays an ordinary click, and drags that start off the selection
still make a window or lasso.

In model space MVSETUP draws the sheet border at the drawing scale
(scale factor, paper width and height) and zooms to it, or switches to
a layout. On a layout it creates viewports in a bounding area (a single
one, a 2x2 engineering set of top/front/right/isometric views, or an
array with spacing), deletes picked objects, and scales picked
viewports to a paper/model unit ratio.
A viewport's fit to the model now measures the model along the
viewport's own view direction, so side and isometric views frame it
too.

Typing <angle at a point prompt (e.g. <30) now fixes the direction of
the next point from the last one until a point is placed: the cursor
moves along that direction, and a bare number entered next is the
distance along it. The angle is read in the drawing's angle base and
direction and turned into the current UCS. Works from the command line
and from scripts or the automation token input alike.

In a tilted 3D view a grip followed the cursor onto the screen plane
through the orbit target, so a circle or arc jumped to another radius and
a polyline vertex left its plane. A model-space grip now moves in the UCS
XY plane at its own elevation (the screen plane only when seen edge-on).
A solid stays drawn while its grip moves, and its own edges were still
snap candidates: a cone's base radius landed on its own side. The edited
entities are left out of the grip's snap set.

A layout opened for the first time - one whose sheet viewport had to be
made, or one created in this session - gets a viewport centred on the
printable area, 0.8 of its width and height, zoomed to the model's
extents, while LAYOUTCREATEVIEWPORT is on. The profile variable takes
ON/OFF or 1/0 and is kept with the settings.

- The background image texture is not an sRGB view: the image is drawn with
its own colours, as the solid and gradient colours are.
- An entered paper-space viewport shows its named visual style (Realistic,
...) in the render-mode picker, and a mode picked there is recorded as the
viewport's visual style.
- The view_background automation action takes offset=x,y and scale=x,y.

- Gradients: the middle colour sits (horizon - 0.5) viewport widths from the
centre and blends over height viewport heights each side; two colours
blend over a viewport height each side.
- Image backgrounds: offset in device pixels (right, down), negative scale
mirrors, fitted with aspect ratio covers the viewport; the dialog keeps an
image's offset and scale.
- Layouts: a model-space view restored on a sheet asks for the viewport,
enters it and gives it the view's camera, background and visual style;
inside a viewport the view goes there; a paper-space view's background is
kept on the sheet viewport but not drawn; floating viewports draw their
background.
- Background objects no view or viewport uses any more are erased; a view
without a background restored where the viewport already is leaves the
viewport's background.
- The viewport's named visual style (Realistic, ...) shows by name and the
render-mode picker records its style on the viewport record.

flip to the opposite view when repeated. -VIEW runs as its own command:

UCSVIEW is on and Restore brings it back. UCSORTHO and UCSVIEW are

select takes window [x1, y1, x2, y2] in world XY, with crossing to also
take what the box crosses. It runs the viewport's own box test, now one
helper (box_selection_handles) that the drag and click-move-click
gestures share; the drag gesture applies the selection filter as the
click one already did.

Ctrl+click on a composite selects it with the solid under the cursor as
the one its palette and grips edit: the solid whose own surface passes
through the picked point. With its history shown, a composite draws the
edges of the solids its booleans joined, each where it sits.

SelectionState now holds view, gesture, input, menu and orbit sub-structs; all 450 access sites updated mechanically with no behavior change. Deletes three write-only dead fields (box_last, box_last_crossing, poly_last_crossing). Hand-rolled clears in commands and dim_viewport route through the new clear methods; bench fixture updated. Full suite: 1976 passed / 0 failed / 25 ignored.
A point or pick step commits on the press, so the cursor drifting before
the button comes up no longer moves it. Selection steps and drag-fence
picks still wait for the release.
The press runs the existing release path once; the command path clears
left_down, so the real release that follows does nothing. This replaces
the PR's moved click block and press_consumed_point flag, which could
stay set when the release landed outside the viewport and swallow the
next release, and which broke TRIM's press-and-drag fence.

The exponential camera step is the right call. `0.9 ^ delta` is strictly
positive for every real delta, in and out cancel exactly where the
subtraction lost a percent of the view on every round trip, and the file's
own header has promised an "exponential feel" since it was written. Three
surfaces were left behind it, and the wider range exposed a fourth thing.
The range of the system variable. 3 to 100 is the range ZOOMFACTOR has, and
the User Preferences page was built against it; `SETVAR ZOOMFACTOR` accepts
that and nothing else again. A faster wheel is the Options window's business
instead: the slider covers the variable's own range, the field beside it
reaches 500, and a read-out says what a notch actually does ("10.0% a
notch") so the number being set is readable rather than implied. A value
above 100 therefore lives only in this application's own configuration file,
where it is nobody else's to read, and a bare `SETVAR ZOOMFACTOR` still
reports it. The bounds and the clamp live in one place now
(`settings::clamp_zoom_factor`): four literal copies of `3, 100` are what
let a surface be missed in the first place.
A floating viewport in MSPACE. It zooms its own view through
`zoom_active_viewport`, which kept subtracting: the factor reached zero at
6.67 steps, so from ZOOMFACTOR 360 up every notch inside a viewport bottomed
out on the clamp — a tenfold jump a notch, and the top third of the slider
doing nothing at all. Exponential there too, from a base of 0.85 so the
default notch still moves a viewport the 15% it always has. Each surface
keeps its own long-standing feel rather than inheriting the other's.
The trackpad pinch. `pinch_zoom_steps` was calibrated against the
subtraction (`1 - step / 10 = 1 / (1 + m)`) so that a pinch of m leaves the
view exactly 1 + m times closer — the property docs/trackpad.md documents
and the reason the gesture tracks the fingers at all. Inverting the zoom law
by hand is what let the two drift apart, so the step is asked of the camera
now (`Camera::zoom_steps_for_ratio`), which cannot drift by construction.
`pinch_is_one_to_one` recomputed the old formula rather than the camera's,
so it kept passing through all of this; it zooms a real camera and measures
the distance it lands at instead.
Also: `zoom` had a floor and no ceiling, and zooming out multiplies. At
ZOOMFACTOR 500 a notch out is x2.4, so about ninety notches — a couple of
seconds of scrolling — ran the distance past what an f32 far plane
(`distance * 1000`) can hold, and the viewport went black on an infinite
projection. A degenerate pinch magnification of -1 or beyond reached the
same place through the other side. Both are bounded now.
Also: two doc comments quoted the linear law (`zoom_view_at_cursor` and the
one on `pinch_zoom_steps`), and docs/trackpad.md stated the pinch identity
and claimed the tests covered it against the camera. All updated, with what
a notch does and where each surface's range comes from written down.
Tests, each confirmed against the behaviour it describes: the zoom law at
every factor the application can hold (positive, monotonic in the setting,
in and out cancelling), the ceiling under a long scroll out in both
projections, the published inverse and what it does with a nonsense ratio,
the viewport factor and a real viewport zoomed three notches at the top of
the range, the SETVAR range including a value the Options field set, the
Options field (above 100, above the ceiling, cleared, not a number), its
agreement with the slider, Close putting both the value and the field back,
and the read-out's percentages. 1882 lib tests pass.
The two new Options strings are not in the locale catalog yet, so they
render in English until it is regenerated.

Real BT/Tj text objects ride alongside the vector outlines (Tr 3,
zero visual change): runs preserved at layout time, TTF styles embedded
as allsorts subsets with ToUnicode, width-matched Tm, clip-culled.
WireModel literals moved to ..Default::default() tails.
Two viewport-navigation defects, both measured against commercial solutions.
The cursor stayed a hand during a zoom. `selection_overlay` took one boolean
for all three interactive navigation tools, so ZOOM Dynamic and ORBIT both
showed PAN's grab hand — which reads as "drag the sheet", the wrong promise
for either. Split it into a `NavCursor` enum: PAN keeps the open/closed hand,
ORBIT gets four-way arrows, and ZOOM Dynamic gets the magnifier carrying the
sign of the zoom actually under way — "+" dragging up, "-" dragging down,
latched with a 2 px dead zone so a hand held still cannot strobe the glyph.
ZOOM Dynamic also reused `box_anchor` to remember where a drag began, so a
selection marquee rubber-banded across the screen while the view zoomed; the
drawing is now suppressed, the state left alone for `reproject_box_anchor`.
ZOOM EXTENTS did not reach the whole drawing, for three separate reasons, now
answered by one shared `Scene::visible_block_bounds`:
- A quartile filter dropped any wire whose centroid sat outside the
inter-quartile consensus of the others. It was meant to stop one junk wire
from a bad parse poisoning the box, but it could not tell parser junk from
an outlying detail, a survey point, or a block placed away from the rest,
and silently refused to frame them. Gone; the absolute 1e16 sentinel gate
the paper path already used is the only filter, and the XLine / Ray display
segments that motivated the heuristic are handled explicitly.
- HATCH tessellates to no wires at all, and the model path never read the
fill models, so a drawing whose outermost geometry is a fill — or which is
nothing but fills — had nothing to frame. It now folds them in, reusing the
renderer's own warm cache on the hot path rather than re-exploding every
INSERT per ZOOM EXTENTS.
- Inside a floating viewport the fit came from `compute_model_space_extents`,
which walked only `key_vertices` — empty for every tessellated curve.
Circles, arcs, ellipses and splines contributed nothing. Fixing it also
corrects plot Extents, sheet-set framing, viewport auto-fit and SpaceMouse
model bounds, which all inherited that blind spot.
Bounds stay f64 into the camera: a UTM drawing lost whole metres to the old
f32 round-trip. Drawing extents also no longer read the camera — the result is
cached per geometry epoch, and a floating viewport's camera is derived FROM
the extents, so `camera_for_viewport` recursed into a stack overflow.
`model_space_extents_mixed_entities_accuracy` asserted the curve-blind result;
it now asserts the true bounds.

- Lighting follows the view: the default source is a key light from the
upper left and a fill light from the lower right over an ambient term,
the other source one light from above; POINTCLOUDLIGHTING 1 lights the
front faces, 2 both.
- A selected or hovered point cloud shows its extents box.

A lone unlocked point cloud selected in a 3D visual style shows a move
gizmo at its insertion point: X/Y/Z arrows and XY/YZ/ZX squares. Dragging
an arrow moves the cloud along that axis, a square moves it in that
plane; the hovered part is highlighted and each drag is one undo step.

While a grip drags, the edited entity is hidden from snapping and its
drag-start shape got a reference-only pass: the marker appeared on the
old edge's midpoint or corner, but the grip stayed at the raw cursor,
and the pass ran only with object snap tracking on. The reference pass
now always runs, still limited to discrete points (never nearest-style,
so the point cannot be pulled back onto the old shape) and skipping the
grip's own start point, and when no snap on the rest of the drawing wins
it places the grip too.

Entity picks switch object snap off, but COINCIDENT (and the other
constraints that take a point) only recognise a point when the pick lands
exactly on it. Without snap there were no point markers and every pick
became the whole curve. Point-accepting entity picks now keep object snap
and hand the snapped point to the command.

A page shown small was drawn from its full-size raster and thin lines broke
up into dots. Once a zoom settles on another quarter-octave step, PDF, DWF
and DGN underlays are rasterised again near their size on screen (never
above the full-size raster), frames are requested until that happens, and
the adjusted-pixel memo is kept per raster size. V7 element weights no longer
widen strokes, matching V8 models.

- The Frames list shows the drawing's frame state (hide / display and plot /
display but not plot / frames vary), follows commands, undo and document
switches, and lists the mixed state as a disabled item.
- DWFFRAME and DGNFRAME are frame variables of their own, kept in the header,
and FRAME sets them with the others.
- Out-of-range frame values say "Requires an integer between 0 and 2." and
ask again; a set value reports "Regenerating model.".
- IMAGEFRAME is stored in the image variables as bits (2 is written as 3) and
a drawing without them uses the profile value, which setting IMAGEFRAME
updates and the settings file keeps.
- Raster images, PDF underlays and wipeouts are picked on their frame only;
underlay snap geometry is never picked.

Height and distance steps (PUSHPULL, CYLINDER, CONE, PYRAMID, BOX,
EXTRUDE) replaced the point with the cursor's screen mapping onto the
command axis, discarding an acquired 3D object snap. A genuine snap now
supplies its own coordinate along the axis, as axis grips already do.
Base steps after the first base point (BOX/WEDGE opposite corner and cube
size, CYLINDER/CONE/PYRAMID radius) read the cursor on the base plane
through that point. A base started on a raised face intersected the ray
with world XY instead, so in oblique views the footprint ran far past the
mouse.

Review of #1484:
- The underlay's snap geometry became one hidden wire per segment, but
every piece took the whole page's bounding box, so each cursor move
visited every piece. Each piece now gets its own box.
- Assigning unlayered images to the last layer compared Debug strings of
every layered path and text per drawn item (quadratic, formatted anew
each time); the owners are keyed once in a map.
- The `snap` automation op used (0, 0, 0) for a missing point; it now
answers invalid_point. It also left the live snapper's base point set
to the query's; the base point is restored.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
- Unlayered raster images go with the PDF layer drawn last before them.
- Circular Bezier arcs import as arcs: bulged polyline segments with Join,
ARC entities without it; straight chains still join.
- Imported PNGs go to "PDF Images" next to the PDF; import blocks are
numbered imp31, imp32, ...
- Background darkness is its HSL lightness below one half.
- All chosen pages attach at the same insertion point.
- PDF geometry snaps as separate pieces: centre from the rim, intersections
and perpendiculars.
- Automation: snap query with an optional base point.

The codec and kernel repositories and crates are renamed opencadcodec and
opencadkernel. Inside OCS they are depended on under short keys, so code
reads `codec::`, `kernel::` and the new `graph::` (opencadgraph, the node
graph engine). File-format and protocol spellings stay as they were: the
ACIS product id `acadrust`, the ACADRUST_* switches and the plugin
version keys `acadrust_version` / `acadrust_source`.
A button left of MCP on the command line opens a translucent node graph
over the viewport, with a palette of object, input, math, logic, list,
text and geometry nodes added by click or drag. An object node owns
drawing entities and its rows are the Properties panel's own rows for
them: the single-object page is extracted from refresh_properties as
entity_property_sections, values use the control protocol's
property_json, and writes go through set_property_value with a property
target override, so the panel, MCP and the graph share one read/write
path. A list reaching an object row makes one entity per element. Each
graph action is one undo step; the canvas pans and zooms.

- blocks and export: block_define, block_delete, a normalised wblock
- publishing: layout_create, page_setup_set, plot (per_page included)
- metadata: sysvar, xdata_set / xdata_get, file_identity
- collections: group_create, selection_set_save / load
- control plane: batch, events, view_focus, close
- the REST transport: `--http <port>`, the /api/v1 routes and their
OpenAPI 3 description
- person-in-the-loop picks: user_select and getpoint, hosted by the GUI
over the same REST routes, with on-screen pending signals

Left out on purpose: 37de5a46 also removed the donation surface (the

Adapted while porting: the REST server and the GUI bridge are desktop-only
and a template start is refused in the web build, so the wasm target still
compiles; the two plot tests read the PDF through the shared stream helper,
because exported streams are Flate-compressed; the benches set the new
crosshair field; comments and docs describe each operation in its own
terms rather than by another product's API names.

The direction handle was built with center_grip (is_midpoint), so drags
arrived as Translate, which the direction arm ignores — the grip engaged
but silently did nothing. Build it with square_grip (same marker) so the
drag arrives as Absolute and repoints the line.
Tests:
- xline_direction_grip_drag_changes_direction: press, drag, direction is +X
A trackpad could only zoom: every scroll delta, wheel notch or not, went
into the same zoom step, and a pinch never arrived at all. iced's winit
layer converts only the window events it has an iced equivalent for, so
winit's `PinchGesture` was dropped before the app saw it.
Scroll deltas now split by what produced them: a wheel reports notches and
still zooms, a precise-scrolling device reports pixels and pans. The same
pixel split keeps working everywhere else — the browser build reports every
wheel notch as pixels, so there they keep zooming.
The pinch is read straight from AppKit with a local `NSEvent` monitor, since
the app cannot see the gesture through iced at all, and handed to the app
through a subscription shaped like the SpaceMouse bridge. It maps 1:1 onto
the camera: fingers 5% further apart leave the view 5% closer.
The pan and zoom bodies are now shared by the mouse and the gestures, so the
middle-button drag, the wheel, two fingers and a pinch all move the view
through one path — in model space, in a tiled pane and inside a floating
viewport alike.
DCFORM sets the annotational or dynamic form and continues into the
DIMCONSTRAINT option prompt, whose wording and last-used default match the
reference. -PARAMETERS manages parameters from the command line; a
double-clicked constraint dimension opens its value prompt. Dynamic
dimensions rescale on every camera change and their display overrides stay
out of the saved file. A driving dimension between an entity's own ends no
longer has its length retained, so a new value moves the second point along
the dimension axis; parameter edits hold the first constraint point.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Every dynamic dimension gets a DIMSCALE override for 12 px text, refreshed
per zoom band, at creation and after load. A SCALE/ROTATE of an entity whose
own end points a driving dimension measures now pins its second constraint
point so the dimension moves the first end, as the reference does.

An OTRACK crossing is the meeting of two tracking vectors, but
`OtrackHit` carried only the one a typed distance is measured along, so
the overlay had a single guide to draw. Snapping to the crossing of two
vectors worked and looked like an unexplained point on one line.
Carry the crossed ray out of `otrack_snap` as `OtrackHit::cross`, keep it
on the app beside `otrack_active`, and let the overlay take a list of
guides rather than one. `otrack_active` still drives typed-distance
entry on its own, so distance entry is unchanged.
