The desktop app checks, downloads, verifies and stages on its own threads for the window, and
once the window has closed (autosave closed) swaps a staged release in and starts it. Staging
folders an earlier update left are removed at start-up. Automatic checks stay off under
--control automation and CI unless FIELDCRAFT_UPDATE_HOST names a test server.

ureq over rustls (ring) with the OS certificate verifier. The project key
is the build-time FIELDCRAFT_POSTHOG_KEY; without it nothing is asked or
sent. FIELDCRAFT_TELEMETRY=0 turns it off; --control and CI runs only with
FIELDCRAFT_TELEMETRY=1. A failed post drops its batch.

cargo-deb and cargo-generate-rpm (pinned) package the same stripped binaries and files as the
tar.gz under /usr. The release job compares the file lists, runs lintian, and installs both
packages in Ubuntu 22.04 and Fedora containers.

The window's Wayland app_id / X11 class is io.github.jyviko.fieldcraft, the id the release
packages use for the .desktop entry and the macOS bundle (#72). Windows builds embed
assets/app-icon/icon.ico in fieldcraft.exe through embed-resource (MIT, a build dependency only).

Crates fieldcraft-*, binaries fieldcraft and fieldcraft-cli, the .fieldcraft file (format tag
fieldcraft/1, manifest fieldcraft.json), FIELDCRAFT_* environment variables, the MCP server
name, egui widget ids (fc_*), the app icon document FieldCraft.icon and its generated family,
docs and licences. No compatibility shim: no files of the earlier name exist.
