The demo used the corpus I-beam, which is extruded along z and so stood upright. A new corpus part, cantilever-i-beam, is the same section on the YZ plane extruded along x, web upright: a sweep along a horizontal axis for the meshers, and a cantilever that bends downward on screen. The i-beam part is unchanged (its corpus row and the meshing tests keep it). The demo clamps it at x = 0 and loads the free end with 1000 N in -z through a kinematic coupling, and now checks the solution against beam theory and stops when it is off: tip deflection (bending plus shear) within 3 %, root bending stress (stress_xx along the top flange, extrapolated to the root, nodes from the Abaqus deck) within 2 %. docs/meshing/corpus.md regenerated with the new part. FieldCraft
An open-source, clean-room CAE modeling application in pure Rust: geometry to analysis-ready finite element models, with robust tetrahedral and hexahedral meshing, solver decks for Abaqus, Nastran and LS-DYNA, and its own linear static and modal solver. Desktop, browser and AI agents drive the same commands.
Status: early. The workspace, quality gates, the FE model, the command engine and the geometry boundary (SolidCraft's kernel and tessellator) are in place; meshing is next. See ROADMAP.md.
An AI agent drives the app over MCP: it opens an I-beam, hex meshes it, defines the material, the clamp and a 1000 N tip load, solves, and shows the von Mises stress and the deformed shape (tip deflection 0.176 mm; beam theory with shear 0.177 mm). MP4 · regenerated by tools/demo-video.
Build
cargo xtask ci # fmt, assets, licences, layers, clippy, tests, wasm
cargo xtask test --heavy # the heavy (ignored) tests and the doc tests
cargo run -p fieldcraft-cli -- commands # every command and its parameters
cargo run -p fieldcraft-cli -- run script.json # run a command script
cargo run -p fieldcraft-cli -- mcp # MCP server on stdio for AI agents (docs/mcp.md)
Rust 1.95 or later, with the wasm32-unknown-unknown target for cargo xtask ci.
