OCS already creates, transforms and combines bodies through cadkernel, and
solid_to_sat / kernel_acis_body verify each result lifts back losslessly.
Two ignored spike tests measure volumes and DWG/DXF round trips. The
blocker is an operation channel, not geometry; the note recommends an
additive solid_operation host method and phases the work.

Frame corners and the aspect lock are scriptable; the opaque storage and
envelope are excluded and refused on edit. The audit embeds a real PNG
through OCS's own builder and proves it survives DWG and DXF byte-for-byte.
Python creation stays a follow-up.

Documents six cadcodec reader/writer gaps with source references, canary
tests and suggested fixes (nothing filed). Verifying them showed the Spline
DXF weight loss was an OCS bug: the writer emits weights only for a rational
spline, so the host now sets flags.rational from the weights. Spline passes
every gate.

Insert can be created by naming an existing ordinary block; the host refuses
unknown blocks, model/paper space and containment cycles, and keeps legacy
inserts of missing blocks editable. The legacy Polyline is update-only with a
hint toward Polyline2D and Polyline3D because both writers convert it on
save. The generator gains update_only_message.

Compares every writable ATTDEF field through DWG and DXF. DWG round-trips the
complete state; acadrust's DXF reader handles only eight group codes, so
alignment, width factor, oblique angle, attribute flags, field length,
generation flags, lock and text style reopen as defaults. Pinned by canary
expectations and recorded in the ledger.

Runs every first-generation kind through the real-runner lifecycle driver.
The audit found Ellipse unvalidated, zero-height Text/MText and non-finite
Arc angles and Point/Line thickness accepted, and no creation-time checks
for most kinds. validate_basic_entity now covers them and refuses only
problems an edit introduces. Twelve kinds pass every gate; Polyline,
Polyline2D, Polyline3D and Spline carry pinned persistence findings, and
Insert is update-only.

Light placement, intensity, colour, attenuation and shadow fields are
writable with host validation. staged_python_light_lifecycle_over_real_ipc
passes every gate except DXF cast_shadows, pinned by a canary.
SectionSymbol is recorded as blocked: it needs host-created style and view
representation objects and its raw point counts have no documented
derivation.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Bounds, scale and rotation are writable with viewport and scale reference
rules. staged_python_view_border_lifecycle_over_real_ipc passes every gate
in DWG; a DXF DRAWINGVIEW reopens as an opaque entity, pinned by a canary.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Curated view fields are writable; the owner must be a paper-space block and
frozen layers must exist. staged_python_viewport_lifecycle_over_real_ipc
passes every gate except a paper-space canvas oracle, so the kind is
recorded as integration-tested.

Scripts place an underlay against an existing UnderlayDefinition; the host
checks that the definition exists and matches the underlay type.
staged_python_underlay_lifecycle_over_real_ipc passes every gate except DXF
persistence: acadrust's reader returns the degree-valued rotation
unconverted and repeated saves compound it. Pinned by canary expectations.

Maps the placement, display and clip-boundary fields with rectangular and
polygonal clip validation. staged_python_wipeout_lifecycle_over_real_ipc
passes the full gate including DWG and DXF reopen with re-edit.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
An earlier bulk edit for the RasterImage flags message also rewrote MLine's
test expectation; MLine.flags is a manifest override with its own message.

Scripts name an image file; the host reads its pixel size, creates and links
the ImageDefinition and derives size and the default clip boundary.
staged_python_raster_image_lifecycle_over_real_ipc passes every gate in OCS
with a real PNG. ACAD_IMAGE_DICT and reactor linkage are not created, so the
kind is recorded as integration-tested.

The host rebuilds the derived spline from the generating parameters on
scripted create/edit. staged_python_helix_lifecycle_over_real_ipc passes
every gate except DXF handedness, which acadrust's reader never applies;
the gap is pinned by a canary via per-format expectations in the shared
mesh lifecycle driver.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Maps all three mesh kinds with host validation of grid counts, face indices
and edge topology, and skips sub-record common data in the generator.
A shared run_mesh_lifecycle driver passes the full gate for each kind,
including DWG and DXF reopen with re-edit.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Maps rows, columns, merged ranges, style and placement through the generic
generator (now with tuple and usize support), adds grid/merge/reference
validation, and keeps DXF cell merge dimensions in step with merged_ranges.
staged_python_table_lifecycle_over_real_ipc passes the full gate including
DWG and DXF reopen.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Extends the adapter generator (Color, LineWeight, mixed unit/payload enums,
fixed float arrays, bitflags-2 newtypes, keep_types override) and maps
MultiLeader with a merge-style context patch, host validation and
reference checks. staged_python_multileader_lifecycle_over_real_ipc passes
the full gate including DWG and DXF reopen.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Color converts as {'kind': ByLayer|None|ByBlock|Index|Rgb, 'value': ...}.
Leader.override_color is now writable; neither DWG nor DXF stores it, which
is recorded as a fourth persistence blocker with a canary assertion.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Adds a hand-written flat Dimension model to the adapter (manifest
manual_kinds hook) and a synthetic-property section to the host coverage
policy. The host derives actual_measurement and the base definition point on
scripted create/edit. staged_python_dimension_lifecycle_over_real_ipc passes
the full gate for every subtype including DWG and DXF reopen. Python ints are
now accepted for coordinates and angles.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Maps vertices, flags, justification, normal, scale and style with host
validation and MLineStyle binding. The host recomputes vertex direction,
miter and element parameters on scripted create/edit, so scripts only supply
positions. staged_python_mline_lifecycle_over_real_ipc passes the full gate
including DWG and DXF reopen.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Adds Leader validation and annotation/dimension-style reference checks to
ocs_plugin_api, maps 15 writable and 5 read-only fields in the adapter, and
adds staged_python_leader_lifecycle_over_real_ipc covering C/R/E/D/U/I/V/P.
The W gate stays open: acadrust's DXF writer omits the annotation handle and
DXF reads drop annotation_offset; DWG R2010+ does not store text size or the
hookline flag. Each gap is pinned by a canary assertion.

- Add LayerConfig struct and add_layer / modify_layer methods to HostApi trait
- Implement IPC request/response serialization for AddLayer and ModifyLayer
- Implement HostSession methods with CAD property defaults and selective modification
- Refresh layer panel UI and invalidate scene layer dependencies upon layer changes
- Add unit tests for add_layer with defaults and partial modify_layer
- Drop crates/ocs_doc_api from workspace and host dependency.
- Remove src/app/doc_api.rs and its module declaration.
- Strip DocApi v2 undo/dispatch plumbing from HostSession.
- Remove HostApi::doc_api_dispatch default method.
- Remove PluginRequest::DocApiRequest / PluginResponse::DocApiResponse.
- Revert plugin API version from 6 back to 5.
Add the typed document facade and plugin IPC adapter. Prepare bulk edits
before mutation, preserve undo and dirty state, keep profile elevations,
validate numeric inputs and session bindings, and generate Python constructors
with typed results.
Reuse existing entity transforms and profile conversion. Compute mass
properties and closed-surface bounds in cadkernel; pin its main revision
6a5e6fc2822f6af6b2611cd605b44437b35158f0. Keep plugin API metadata at version 6.
Validation: 646 native application tests, 597 kernel tests, 12 document API
tests, 91 plugin API tests, 3 Python tests, default/IPC feature builds and
wasm32 check passed.
OpenCADStudio/plugins#901 (comment)
- Add HostApi::document_path(tab_id) returning Option<PathBuf>.
- Add PluginRequest::DocumentPath and PluginResponse::DocumentPath for
out-of-process plugins.
- Implement the request in the IPC server and in both V3/V4 plugin-side
HostApi proxies.
- Implement HostSession::document_path by looking up the tab by id and
returning its current_path.
An entity added via a plugin's AddEntity with a common.layer name that no
LAYER command ever created kept its layer in-session, but the DWG writer
resolves an unknown layer name to a NULL handle, so on reopen the entity
collapsed to layer 0.
Add a shared Scene::ensure_layer(name) that registers a missing layer with a
real handle (allocate_handle, per #67) and call it from add_entity and
update_entity. This covers the plugin AddEntity/UpdateEntity IPC and every
internal add path without a new IPC request. Existing/empty/"0" layers are
no-ops, so normal draw commands are unaffected.

#249 — plugin XDATA written via write_record survived only in memory: the
acadrust DWG writer dropped ExtendedData::records on save. Bump acadrust to
e88a9a6 (records now encode to EED and decode back on read) and fix the host
side that fed it:
- ensure_app_id allocates a real APPID handle; a null handle serializes as
0 and the EED reference can't resolve, so the XDATA vanished on reopen.
- write_record / remove_record drop stale raw_dwg_eed for the target app so
an edit made after a save/reopen wins over the pre-edit bytes.
#250 — out-of-process plugins got a throwaway document_mut() snapshot, so
edits to existing entities were silently discarded and deletion wasn't
expressible at all. Add the missing mutation surface:
- UpdateEntity / RemoveEntity IPC requests + HostApi::update_entity /
remove_entity (default in-process impls, RPC overrides on the client that
invalidate the stale document cache).
- Scene::update_entity replaces the entity in place, preserving its handle
and owning block, and reseeds only its derived caches; remove reuses the
cache-coherent erase_entities (which also honours layer locks).
- document_mut() is documented as a local-only snapshot out-of-process.

Follow-ups after merging the out-of-process plugin isolation work:
- Convert the out-of-process interactive adapter's `on_point` /
`on_entity_pick` to `glam::DVec3`, matching the `CadCommand` trait,
which moved to f64 pick coordinates. The branch predated that change
and no longer compiled against the trait.
- Contain plugin constructor panics in `export_plugin!`: the constructor
runs across the C ABI boundary in `ocs_plugin_register`, where an
unwinding panic is undefined behavior. Catch it and return null, which
the loader already treats as a failed registration.
- Reap killed runner processes. The spawn-timeout and disconnect paths
called `child.kill()` without `wait()`, leaving a zombie on Unix until
the host exited. Route both — and `shutdown()` — through a shared
`reap()` that kills and waits on a detached thread.

Clipped blocks were broken at UTM and lost their clip when pasted into
another drawing.
- Clip geometry: world_clip_polygon_f64 keeps the boundary in absolute f64;
clip_wires now clips in a frame relative to the boundary's first vertex
(small coords → exact f32 Sutherland–Hodgman) and re-splits the result
into the double-single high/low pair the relative-to-eye renderer needs,
so the clipped block draws correctly and no longer poisons ZOOM Extents.
- ZOOM Extents (fit_all): the outlier reject compared absolute UTM
coordinates against a centre-RELATIVE span (local_extent_max), rejecting
the whole drawing → no-op. Made the reject distance-from-median-centre.
- Cross-drawing paste: clipboard now snapshots each copied entity's whole
xdictionary object graph (ClipboardDeps.ext_objects) and recreates it on
paste with fresh handles + remapped references, re-pointing the pasted
entity's xdictionary at the new root. Wired into PASTECLIP and PASTEORIG.
Fixed handle allocation (allocate_handle, not the non-advancing
next_handle) so the dictionary chain doesn't collapse onto one handle.
- Updated hit_test / plugin_host tests for the eye-relative + DVec3 signatures.
Known gaps: PASTEBLOCK does not yet carry the clip (clip would need to live
inside the new wrapper block definition); hatch-clip path still f32.
