Shift+right-click in the viewport opens a cursor-anchored grid of snap
icons (names as hover tooltips). Picking one engages a one-shot
override: only that snap applies — even with running osnap off — until
the next point pick commits, which restores the saved configuration.
Esc drops an unconsumed override; an outside click closes the menu.
The status-bar snap toggles are untouched — this is a separate,
temporary mechanism.
Covers items 1 and 2 of #337 (mid-between-two-points still pending).

A typed dynamic-input value (TAB-locked angle or distance) now shapes
the rubber-band: the cursor point is routed through dyn_resolve_point —
the same resolution Enter commits — in the mouse-move preview and the
click commit, so a locked 30° pins the line's direction while the free
field keeps tracking the cursor. The lock wins over osnap/ortho/polar.
TAB (and the comma advance) reshape the preview immediately instead of
waiting for the next mouse move.

Xref merge now inserts entities in the source block's chain order and
carries SortEntitiesTable objects across (remapped to merged handles).
draw_depth_map values become [depth, half] so exploded block/xref fills
and wide-polyline band wires both compose child depth as
insert_depth + in-block rank x half, recursing into nested inserts with
the same divisor - bands and fills from one block interleave by the
block's internal order instead of stacking at the insert's single depth.
Band batches split per rank via WireModel.depth_override; thin wires
stay merged. The wire arena falls back to a full rebuild when a slab
carries mixed depths so refreshes don't flatten band overrides.

A wide polyline with per-vertex varying widths rendered at its widest edge
(uniform-width ones were already exact). Draw the true taper instead.
`WireModel.taper_widths` carries a per-point full band width. The wire
instance (native slim + web fat) gains per-endpoint `world_hw_a/b`, and both
wire shaders interpolate `mix(hw_a, hw_b, which_end)` so each segment's band
narrows/widens linearly — depth-tested, and the linetype dash still applies.
Alignment (widths must match the tessellated points) is solved by building
both together: a new `TruckObject::TaperedLines(points, widths)`, filled by
`common::tapered_band_points` (straight = endpoints, arc = 16 samples with the
width lerped along it). to_truck routes a varying-width polyline here —
LwPolyline before the PLINEGEN split, Polyline2D at its return — while a
uniform-width one keeps the constant-band Contour path unchanged. `world_width`
stays the widest edge as the PDF-stroke + zoom-floor fallback.
Blocks fall back to the constant-widest band (`LocalWire` carries no
taper_widths).

A wide polyline's flat band was drawn by the hatch pipeline: a solid fill
with only draw-order depth. It ignored the entity linetype (the width
"crushed" the dash pattern) and showed through 3-D geometry in a tilted view.
Draw the band from the polyline's own centre-line wire instead. A new
`WireModel.world_width` (drawing units) makes the wire vertex shader expand
the quad by `world_half_width / world_per_pixel` (clamped to a hairline), so
the band is sized in world units and tracks zoom. Because it is now a wire:
- the GPU dash shader dashes the band by arc-length — the linetype applies;
- it is depth-tested at the polyline elevation — no draw-order see-through;
- no CPU band triangles or per-dash geometry are generated.
`world_half_width` rides in `WireConst` (native, replacing a pad) and the web
`WireInstance` (loc 14); both wire shaders branch on it. The tessellator sets
`world_width` from the LwPolyline width on the Contour / SegmentedLines arms,
and the model-space fill loop no longer emits a hatch band for any LwPolyline.
Pick still uses the band polygon (`pick_tris`).
Blocks keep the hatch band: `LocalWire` carries no `world_width` (finalize
zeroes it), so a scaled insert still scales its band correctly.

Rectangular paper viewports now go through the same GPU stencil clip as
non-rectangular ones: viewport_clip_boundary_ndc returns the four rect
corners (a full-target mask) instead of nothing, so the render path has
no rect/non-rect special case — every content viewport carries a clip
boundary and draws with stencil reference 0xFF.
With a single clip path, the old per-wire / -image / -wipeout scissor
mechanism is fully dead and removed: compute_*_scissors, the
*_pixel_scissors buffers, the project_scissor helper, the per-pass
set_scissor_rect blocks, the vp_scissor field threaded through
WireModel / ImageModel / HatchModel and their GPU mirrors (WireGpu /
ImageGpu / WipeoutGpu / HatchWebGpu), from_run's scissor parameter, the
scissor grouping in build_wire_buffers, and the is_arena_eligible gate.
Net -245 lines across 54 files.
Rectangular viewports still clip exactly via their own render rectangle;
the stencil mask is a redundant full-target no-op there, kept only so
the clip code path stays uniform. XCLIP keeps its CPU wire clip.

A SOLID's filled quad and a dimension/MultiLeader text background are flat 2-D
overlays that should draw in wireframe and shaded alike, but face3d_gpu
classified fills by `!fill_tris_low.is_empty()` — and a 2-D fill at UTM scale
carries a double-single low residual for precision just like a real 3-D mesh
face. So the arrowhead fill and the "5;8" cyan text background were routed to
the 3-D buffer and only appeared in shaded mode, vanishing back to nothing on
return to wireframe.
WireModel now carries an explicit `fill_is_3d`: true only for a real surface
(PolyfaceMesh / PolygonMesh face, set in the tessellator), false for every flat
overlay fill. face3d_gpu classifies on the flag, so 2-D fills stay in the
always-visible buffer while keeping their low residual (and UTM precision).
Verified on budweiser: the `_BoxFilled` arrow SOLID and the dim '5;8' MTEXT
background both tessellate with fill_is_3d = false.

Selection tested a flat 8 px radius around each wire's centreline and
nothing else, so two things the user can see were not pickable.
A wire renders as a band `line_weight_px` wide, so pick now widens to that
rendered half-width via `pick_tolerance_px`, mirroring the wire shader's
`select(0.5, half_width, lwdisplay_enable)`. Behaviour is unchanged for
every standard weight (the widest, 2.11 mm, renders 7.97 px half-width —
just under the 8 px threshold); this keeps the two sides from drifting
apart if the display boost in `lineweight_to_px` ever changes.
Entities extruded by a DXF thickness draw their wall as four edges with
nothing in between, so the interior was a hole the cursor fell through.
WireModel gains `pick_tris`: triangles hit-testing treats as solid and the
renderer never uploads. Kept apart from `fill_tris` because that channel
reaches the GPU, and a wall that rendered shaded would change how every
thickness drawing looks. Ranked below `fill_tris` — those are drawn, these
are not, so where they overlap the drawn face is what the user means.
Walls are dropped when a wire is projected into a floating viewport:
`points` are reprojected and clipped into paper coords there, so cloned
model-space triangles would hit-test at a model-scale offset. Extruded
entities stay selectable by their edges, which do get projected.
The wall loop runs on every hover that misses everything else, so it
rejects on the wire's AABB first — an extruded circle is ~128 triangles
and a drawing full of thickness would otherwise project every wall on
each mouse move.

MLINE dashed elements were fully CPU-expanded (apply_along) — one wire per
dash — to keep the parallel lines in phase. Move pure-dash elements onto the
GPU dash shader and end-align every element to the multiline's centre-line so
they share one interior phase.
- wire_distances now accumulates arc-length from the double-single (high+low)
points, so the dash phase stays precise at UTM coordinates. f32-high-only
deltas quantised ~0.1 there and drifted the parallel lines apart — the
original reason MLINE dashes were CPU-side.
- New WireModel.dash_align_end carries a shared begin/end dash length. The
shader uses it as align_end for every parallel element (the interior phase
depends on align_end, not the wire's own length) while align_total stays the
element's own length, so each still ends on a dash at its own endpoint.
- MLINE tessellation derives that length once from the centre-line, routes
pure dash/space/dot elements to the GPU pattern and text-bearing elements to
apply_along.
- apply_along gained an "A"-type mode (shared reference length): a solid
begin/end dash and a phased interior, so its dashes — and embedded text —
line up with the GPU-dashed sibling elements instead of tiling from start.
Pure-dash MLINEs now cost one WireModel + pattern per element instead of N
segments; single (non-MLINE) entities keep the from-start tiling unchanged.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com>
DET pipe walls now carry the stroke pattern (dash_from_start), which
tiles from each wall's own start vertex and skips the A-type end
alignment that was force-lighting a solid dash under the end symbol.
Two rendering fixes on top:
- Dedup the host polyline's vertices before offsetting the walls. Some
DGN pipe polylines carry trailing duplicate end vertices; a zero-length
segment gave offset_xy a degenerate normal, leaving that vertex
un-offset and folding the wall down to the centre line. The two walls'
fold segments met at the centre and drew a spurious line linking them.
- Re-key the symbol (end circle / half-ellipse) wires to the host handle
so the whole pipe picks and selects as one entity instead of the
symbols acting as separate phantom entities.

Selecting a block and running BEDIT (command, ribbon button, or a
double-click on the block) opens a block-editor "space" tab, named after
the block, alongside Model/Layout in the status bar. The tab draws ONLY
the block record's own entities in block-local coordinates; edits are
live on the definition, so every INSERT updates. Save Block / Discard
buttons (side toolbar) finish the session; Discard restores the on-entry
snapshot. Space switching is locked while a block is open, and BEDIT and
REFEDIT are mutually exclusive.
Implementation: a Scene.block_edit_block override at the top of
current_layout_block_handle scopes render/pick/new-entity ownership to the
edited block while current_layout stays "Model" (so the pervasive
Model-vs-paper code keeps model behaviour). The model render/pick paths
that hardcoded model_space_block_handle (wire tile set, hatch render +
pick, block-instance meshes) are made binding-aware so the block isolation
actually takes effect and model content does not leak in. Entering fits
the camera to the block (fit_all already scopes via the binding). Renaming
the block tab renames the block itself — new Scene::rename_block re-keys
the record, updates the Block marker and repoints every INSERT reference.

Files saved while a paper layout was active reopened in Model space
because the loader hardcoded the current layout to "Model" and never
consulted the space recorded in the file.
The active space is a standard part of the format and acadrust already
round-trips it: $TILEMODE (header.show_model_space) for model-vs-paper,
and the CTAB current-tab variable for the exact layout name.
- Read: on open, pick the current layout from CTAB (when it names a
layout that exists), else $TILEMODE (Model, or the first paper layout).
- Write: Scene::sync_active_space_to_document() mirrors the active layout
back into the document (show_model_space + CTAB). It runs from
set_current_layout, so every active-layout change — the status-bar tab,
the Layout Manager's Set Current, create / rename / delete, and
undo/redo — keeps the document in sync for the next save.
$TILEMODE is the guaranteed mechanism (read and written for both DXF and
DWG); CTAB refines the exact tab when the variable is present.

Typed values were quantized to the f32 grid before reaching the
entity (e.g. a length of 2000.8 committed as 2000.8020), worsening
with magnitude. The interaction point layer was all glam::Vec3 (f32).
Two-layer fix:
1. Coordinate backbone -> f64. last_point, last_cursor_world,
dyn_anchor, dyn_ref become DVec3; UcsXform transforms, parse_coord,
the ucs helper fns, dyn_resolve_point, the OTRACK typed-distance
paths, command-line coordinate entry and the coordinate readout all
compute in f64. Screen/GPU/alignment stays f32 (snap engine, render
geometry, projection, UCS-icon/viewcube drawing) with casts only at
those boundaries.
2. Per-command committed storage -> DVec3. on_point already received a
DVec3, but many command impls narrowed it back to f32 (let pt =
pt.as_vec3(); Vec<Vec3> fields) and re-widened at build, quantizing
the committed coordinate. Migrated PLINE, SPLINE, MLINE, LENGTHEN,
INSERT, 3D primitives, every dimension/leader/mleader, ray, revcloud,
wipeout, attdef, table, tolerance, array center, mview, plot_window,
plus the QDIM_PLACE handler and qdim_collect_points. Preview,
hit-test and rubber-band paths keep f32 at the boundary.
Hatch manual boundaries are left for a follow-up: HatchModel.boundary
is structurally Arc<Vec<[f32;2]>> and needs a model-level widen.

STRETCH picks its crossing window as two corner points. After the first
corner set last_point, Ortho/Polar constrained the opposite corner to an axis
through it, collapsing the window to a line and making selection impossible.
Add CadCommand::window_corner_pick(); STRETCH returns true for its two window
steps, and the viewport skips the ortho/polar (and OTRACK) lock for that point
in both the preview and commit paths — the corners are now free.
Also render the window like a normal box selection instead of a bare green
outline: add SelectionState::preview_box (a hit-test-free marquee), draw it
with the shared draw_marquee helper (green crossing fill + stroke), and drive
it from the command's new window_first_corner(). Cleared on command end.

Command previews (MOVE, COPY, ROTATE, SCALE, STRETCH, MIRROR, ARRAY,
PASTE, INSERT) build ghost WireModels via WireModel::translated/rotated/
scaled/stretched/mirrored, but those helpers moved only `points`, never
`text_verts`, and the ghosts' glyphs were never uploaded — so text
vanished (or froze at its source) during the preview, same root cause as
the grip-drag case.
Transform text_verts alongside points in all five helpers (shared
map_text_verts, reconstructing + re-splitting the double-single world
position), and gather preview_wires' glyphs into the per-frame
preview-text buffer in the render path. This covers every command
preview automatically. The grip-drag else branch no longer sets
preview_text explicitly (the render gather handles it); the grip-slide
fast path keeps its own scene.preview_text channel (empty preview_wires,
so no double-draw).
MIRROR honours MIRRTEXT: on -> true glyph mirror via mirrored(); off ->
readable relocation via translated().
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Dragging text by a grip hid it until release. The dragged entity is
hidden from the base wire set and shown as a preview overlay, but its
SDF glyph quads (text_verts) were never uploaded for the preview, so
the text vanished mid-drag.
Add a per-frame preview_text GPU buffer (sibling to preview_wires). A
rigid whole-entity move of pure text (TEXT/MTEXT, Square insertion grip)
slides the drag-start glyphs by the drag delta instead of re-shaping the
run every move; reshape grips (MTEXT width), dimensions and wire
entities re-tessellate and feed the same buffer.
Also fold preview_text into render_signature: a pure-text slide leaves
preview_wires empty, so without it the scene-render cache froze the
dragged text at its first frame (grip moved but text stayed, then
jumped to place on release).

Snap and hover hit-testing scanned the whole model wire set every cursor move; a heavily block-instanced drawing explodes to millions of wires, so this stalled for over a second per move. Add a cached spatial grid (wire_grid) keyed on the geometry epoch and query only the cursor neighbourhood via Scene::hit_test_wires_near. Gate the O(in-range segments squared) intersection passes on the in-range POINT count, not the wire count — a handful of curved wires, each hundreds of tessellated points, blew the quadratic up while the wire count looked modest. Give zero-size entities away from the origin (POINTs) a real cullable AABB, and fall back to a block sub-wire's own world points when its entity bounding box is degenerate.

Arc ribbon default + icon + dropdown order set to 3-Point. New ARC_CONT: tangent-continuing arc from the last line/arc endpoint, pick end only; Ctrl flips direction. Exit anchor recorded on commit (disambiguated by last pick) so chaining continues from the correct end.

Rearchitect SDF text from a document-wide collector to per-entity
production during tessellation, so each entity owns its glyph quads and
composite/nested text is covered for free (no re-explosion, no per-frame
document walk).
- WireModel gains `text_verts`: glyph quads ride on the wire, so they are
cached by the tess memo, cloned on hit, and transformed by the block
expand loop exactly like `points`.
- Text arm (tessellate.rs) builds the quads when SDF is on and suppresses
the strokes; render gathers text_verts from the viewport wire set
(`gather_text_verts`, cached on wire content id) — the old collector is
removed. Covers model, dimension, table, block-internal and paper-sheet
text uniformly.
- MLEADER text (lays out via layout_mtext, not the Text arm) gets its own
SDF branch driven by the per-run GlyphRun.
- Pick box comes from the rendered glyph quads (true text extent), not
entity_aabb which mis-places the box for MTEXT; composite paths no longer
clobber the empty text wire's tight AABB (dim pick box hugs the text).
- Selection / hover highlight via a text-highlight overlay (upload_text_
highlight, keyed on selection_generation) mirroring the selected-wire
xray overlay; base glyphs stay neutral so a deselect leaves no stale tint.
- Debug: env OCS_TEXT_BOX draws each run's glyph-bounds rectangle.

Remove the forces_endpoint_snap mechanism merged in #293:
CadCommand::forces_endpoint_snap, Snapper::snap_forced_corners /
forced_corner_modes, the PlotWindowCommand override, the on_tick +
click-commit wiring, and the associated tests. PLOTWINDOW now uses the
normal snapper like every other command.
Rationale: forcing Endpoint snap on regardless of the global OSNAP master
overrides an explicit user setting and is surprising — a plot window is a
coarse print region that usually wants a margin, not a corner lock, and
the forced set only caught Endpoint (not center/mid/intersection) so it
was a partial, opinionated helper. Parking it pending a design discussion
with the PR author; can be reinstated behind a clearer UX (e.g. respecting
OSNAP, or an opt-in modifier) if justified.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Three defects found reviewing the just-merged PRs:
- PLOTWINDOW forced corner snap (#293) only ran in the on_tick preview
path, so the marker highlighted an endpoint but the click committed a
plain snap — with the global OSNAP master (or Endpoint mode) off the
corner landed at the raw cursor, defeating the feature. Apply the same
snap_forced_corners branch at the click-commit recompute.
- build_dxf_pattern (#292) wrote the pattern line's LOCAL step into the
world-frame HatchPatternLine.offset. The new prebaked reader
inverse-rotates offset assuming world frame, so app-created hatches
(HATCH command) collapsed their spacing by cos(angle) — ANSI31 at 45deg
rendered 2.245 instead of 3.175 on both viewport and PDF/plot export.
Rotate the local step into world here so it round-trips and the stored
offset is format-correct for other CAD apps.
- far_from_origin_pattern_hatch_still_fills placed its offset ALONG the
45deg lines (projects to k~0), so it never exercised the span-cap fix and
passed even with the old absolute-index clamp restored. Move the offset
perpendicular to the lines so |k| >> the cap. Add
app_created_hatch_roundtrips_catalog_spacing to guard the offset-frame
fix (verified: fails at 2.245 without it, passes at 3.175 with it).

PLOTWINDOW / PW now forces Endpoint object-snap while picking its two
corners, independent of the global OSNAP toggle, so the plot area lands
exactly on frame corners. The snapper's master toggle and configured
modes are saved and restored around the pick, so the user's OSNAP
settings are unchanged afterward.
- CadCommand::forces_endpoint_snap() opt-in (default false; PlotWindowCommand true).
- Snapper::snap_forced_corners() forces Endpoint only, then restores state.
Intersection is deliberately excluded: it is O(n^2) over the hit-test wire
set and froze the UI on large drawings when a plot window is picked
zoomed-out. Frame corners are endpoints, so Endpoint alone suffices.
- the cursor-move handler routes the plot-window pick through the forced path.
Works in model and paper space (shared pick path). Tests: opt-in flag;
forced mode set is endpoint-only; snapper state is restored after the call.
Two refinements to Parallel snap. The acquired reference now keeps a
point on the line and draws a ∥ marker there, so the user sees which line
the parallel is measured from. And dwelling on that same reference line
again removes it (toggle), matching how OTRACK tracking points clear;
dwelling on a different line switches the reference. Same-line detection
uses parallel direction plus perpendicular screen distance, so it holds
across zoom.
Refs #277

Parallel snap did nothing — the type was in the osnap set, priority and
marker, but there was no logic behind it. Implement it: hovering a line
(or polyline segment) for a short dwell acquires its direction as a
reference; then while drawing from the last point, when the cursor runs
parallel to that reference the point locks onto the line through the last
point parallel to it, showing the ∥ marker and the alignment guide.
Curves (circle/arc/ellipse) are ignored — parallel to a curve is
undefined. Works with only the Parallel object snap on, independent of
OTRACK; the reference clears with the command's tracking state.
Closes#277

A line whose FIRST point is a Tangent snap on a circle can't be fixed
until its direction is known, and a line tangent to TWO circles is their
common tangent — neither is resolvable at a single pick. A plain LINE
dropped the tangent object, so it drew a wrong line (TAN-TAN between two
circles).
Add an opt-in on_point_with_tangent hook (default ignores the tangent, so
every other command is byte-for-byte unchanged) and route the running
Tangent object through the point commit. LINE defers a first-point circle
tangent and resolves it on the next pick: against a second circle tangent
it picks the common tangent of the two circles (up to four — chosen by
the two cursor hits, so hovering selects inner/outer + side); against a
plain point it draws the tangent from that point to the circle.
last_point syncs to the resolved anchor. Common-tangent and point-tangent
math is f64 with perpendicularity unit tests.
Refs #274

#218: with Ortho on and a base point the axis is now a hard lock — a lone
tracking ray can't pull the cursor off it. Only a tracking ray crossing
the ortho axis locks (the corner-finding case); otherwise the ortho
constraint applies as the fallback, so Ortho reliably locks when OTRACK
is also on.
#219: an acquired corner now contributes an alignment ray along its own
edge direction(s) (captured once at acquisition), so OTRACK follows a
segment's extension, not just the ortho/polar axes. Acquisition is also
captured on leave — a perfectly still cursor emits no move events, so
"pause on a corner, then drag" now reliably acquires it. The acquired
marker projects through the active pane's camera + rect (canvas offset
included) instead of vanishing, and the active alignment path is drawn
as a full-length dashed guide through the corner.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Extension osnap now offers a ray off every polyline vertex, not just the
first and last, and snaps to where two segments' extension lines would
cross. That crossing is emitted as an Intersection so it outranks the
per-segment extension feet on their own lines. When it wins, both
contributing extensions are re-detected — off-ray distance measured in
screen space so the tolerance holds at UTM coordinates — and the overlay
draws a dashed guide from each endpoint through the crossing, so both
extension paths remain visible instead of vanishing when caught.

Rework 3D view navigation:
- Turntable / lock-horizon orbit: horizontal drag yaws about world +Z,
vertical drag pitches about the horizontal camera-right axis, so the
view never banks. Pitch is pole-clamped but the straight-down default
view can still be tilted out of.
- Orbit centre: the selection's centre when something is selected,
otherwise the point under the cursor — no longer only the file centre.
The camera revolves rigidly about the pivot, so it stays put on screen
and the view doesn't jump.
- Mouse scheme: Zoom = wheel, Pan = MMB, Rotate = Shift+MMB. Right-drag
no longer orbits (right-click stays context menu / Enter). Floating
viewports orbit with Shift+MMB too.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The window/crossing selection anchor was stored only in screen pixels, so
zooming or panning mid-drag left it frozen while the drawing moved under
it — the rectangle then covered the wrong world area and selected too much
or too little.
Store the anchor's world point and re-project it to the screen anchor
whenever the model-space view zooms (on_viewport_scroll) or pans
(on_viewport_move), so the rectangle tracks the drawing. The moving corner
already follows the cursor. (MSPACE floating-viewport box-select would
need the viewport camera and is left as-is.)

The Extension object snap worked but drew no tracking path, so it was
easy to miss — users had to keep the cursor exactly on the invisible
extension line without any visual cue.
When an Extension snap is active, draw a dashed guide line from the
endpoint it extends from, through the snap point and a little beyond,
and orient the three-dot marker along that direction. SnapResult carries
the endpoint screen position (filled once the winning snap is known);
the overlay renders the guide.

- Double-clicking a locked object no longer opens its text / attribute /
in-place block editor.
- Clicking a locked object during a command's object-gather no longer
counts as completing the selection (don't set selection_just_completed
on the locked path).
- copy_entities skips locked entities.
- The attribute editor's Apply refuses to write when the block's layer was
locked while the dialog was open.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Locked-layer objects were fully editable. Now they stay visible and
snappable but are otherwise protected:
- Not selectable: the five interactive pick paths (box, lasso, single
click, cycling, box-release) plus SELECTALL and QSELECT skip locked
entities.
- Not modifiable (defense-in-depth even if a handle slips through):
transform_entities, erase_entities, apply_grip and the Properties
commit all skip locked entities.
- Faded: entities on a locked layer render dimmed toward the background
(render_style + wire tessellation); toggling lock re-tessellates.
- Snap still works: locked entities are intentionally kept in the wire
set (visibility_ok untouched), so object snap keeps finding them.
- Feedback: a small padlock is drawn by the crosshair when hovering a
locked object, and clicking one prints "Object is on locked layer …".
New Scene::is_layer_locked / locked_layer_name helpers centralise the
check (mirroring layer_hidden).

Double-clicking a block reference that has attributes, or running ATTEDIT
on one, now opens an editor dialog listing every attribute (tag + editable
value) with OK / Cancel. OK writes the values back to the block, with undo
and a repaint; Cancel discards. A block with no attributes still enters
in-place block edit (REFEDIT) on double-click as before. (#192)
ATTEDIT opens the dialog directly when a suitable block is already
selected; otherwise it runs the pick command and the dialog opens once a
block is chosen. This replaces the earlier command-line, per-attribute
prompt flow, which is removed along with its __ATTEDIT__ sentinel path and
the now-unused attedit_set_attrs trait hook; the ATTEDIT command is reduced
to a plain block picker.
The dialog is a tab-scoped in-canvas modal (Plan B): its working copy holds
a document-local handle, so closing that tab or switching away dismisses the

The ribbon layer dropdown grew unbounded so a long layer list ran off the
bottom of the screen with no way to scroll. Cap the panel height and make
the list scrollable; short lists still shrink to fit.
While a dropdown was open, the 3D viewport beneath it kept tracking the
cursor over the panel's empty areas, and the OS cursor vanished there. In
iced 0.14 mouse_area/opaque only capture button presses, never CursorMoved,
so a higher stack layer can't swallow motion — gate it state-side instead:
- ignore viewport motion in on_viewport_move while ribbon.open_dropdown is set
- suppress the crosshair overlay's Hidden cursor (and crosshair draw) so the
normal OS cursor shows over an open dropdown
- route all ribbon dropdown backdrops through a shared dropdown_backdrop()

Opening / navigating a heavy 3D DWG (e.g. a BIM model with ~10k ACIS solids)
was effectively frozen. Several independent costs, all addressed here:
- Face3D edge/fill buffers were re-uploaded on every camera move (keyed on
camera_generation). They are world-space and selection-independent, so gate
them on (geometry_epoch, fill_mode) instead — a pan no longer re-walks every
wire.
- Solid meshes were drawn one buffer + one draw call per solid (~10k draws/
frame), which strangled the GPU front end. Concatenate every solid's LOD0
into a few large buffers (split only to stay under the 256 MB buffer cap) and
draw the whole set in a handful of calls. Built once per geometry epoch, so
selection / hover never re-pack it.
- Selection / hover highlight is now a small tinted overlay of just the picked
solids, drawn last with an Always-depth pipeline so it shows on top even when
the solid is occluded — instead of re-tinting and re-uploading all meshes.
- Hover / pick hit-testing scanned every triangle of every solid each move
(seconds on a heavy model). Add a 3D-AABB screen-rect broad phase
(MeshLodSet now carries z_aabb) and reuse the renderer's cached expanded mesh
set, so picking is O(solids) cheap projections plus the few solids actually
under the cursor.
- Block-internal hatch hit-testing exploded every INSERT on every hover.
Cache the result per geometry epoch and skip blocks that contain no hatch.
- Curved-surface (cone/sphere/torus) tessellation tolerance is now radius-
relative (CURVE_REL_TOL) so a cylinder's facet count is size-independent and
matches the circle/arc wire tessellation, instead of exploding on large radii.
Also adds docs/tessellation.md mapping every EntityType to its tessellation
path (truck B-rep vs truck curve topology vs direct).

Replaces the opt-in `rmb_enter` setting (and `RMBENTER` command) with
always-on behavior. While a command is active, the first viewport
right-click acts as Enter (commit / close) and a second consecutive
right-click opens the context menu instead. Idle right-click still opens
the menu; right-drag still orbits.
The cycle is tracked per tab (`right_click_entered`) and restarts on any
other interaction — a left-click pick, a new command, an orbit, or
leaving the viewport — so the next right-click is Enter again.
Refines #185.

Adds a configurable right-mouse-button behavior without disturbing orbit
or the context menu.
- New persisted setting `rmb_enter` (command `RMBENTER [ON|OFF]`, default
off): when on, a right-click while a command is active acts as Enter
(commit/close); when idle it still opens the context menu. Right-drag
always orbits, so nothing is lost.
- Right-click vs orbit is now time-based: orbit engages only after the
button is held >=150ms and the pointer moves, so a quick right-click is
no longer swallowed by slight pointer jitter (was an 8px distance gate).
- The right-click Repeat menu now lists commands from every source
(command line, ribbon, context menu, shortcuts) via a unified
recents list recorded at the dispatch choke point, instead of only
typed commands.

Replace the custom model_tiles tiling with iced 0.14 pane_grid as the layout
source of truth, while paper-space floating viewports are left untouched (they
overlap/free-place, which pane_grid cannot model).
Each Model pane is its own shader widget rendering its camera into the pane
bounds; the renderer Primitive carries a base_slot so several shader widgets
share the type-keyed MultiPipeline storage on disjoint slots. A second pane_grid
of transparent mouse_areas (plus on_resize) layers above the crosshair overlay
to receive input — the overlay's Hidden cursor interaction otherwise levitates
the cursor and starves any layer beneath it. The active pane follows the cursor
(hover-activate), and grid / crosshair / UCS icon render per pane while the
ViewCube and render-mode picker stay on the active pane only.
Split / close / VPORTS presets and the VPort table round-trip now drive
pane_grid (guillotine reconstruction on load). Adds drag-to-swap via a controls
bar handle with a ghost-card preview, visible pane dividers from the pane_grid
split regions, a default model background of RGB(33,40,48), and removes all the
superseded custom-tile code.

The UCS icon now anchors to the projected UCS origin when it is on-screen
(falling back to the bottom-left corner), and becomes a selectable object:
hover highlights it, a click shows draggable grips, and dragging the origin
grip relocates the UCS while the X/Y tip grips rotate it. Drags snap to
geometry/grid through the existing snapper, and the new UCS is persisted on
release. The icon stays selectable while parked in the corner.
Also make the ViewCube compass (N/E/S/W) world-fixed: the cube body still
reorients with the active UCS, but the cardinals project through a camera-only
rotation and snap in world frame, so the directions no longer spin with the UCS.

Break up the four giant files (~29k lines total) into focused submodule
directories, one concern per file. Pure mechanical moves — behavior is
unchanged.
- app/update.rs (9650) -> app/update/{mod,viewport,command,style,file,
dynamic,dialog,util}. The 384-arm update_inner match stays in mod.rs
with thin delegating arms; the 66 fattest arm bodies move to topic
methods. Arm set preserved exactly (384 -> 384).
- scene/mod.rs (9017) -> scene/{mod,entity,tess,hittest,layout,paper,
mspace,project,selection,modify,group_layer,preview}. The impl Scene
body is split across files via inherent-impl-per-file; struct, ctor,
fields and load-time helpers stay in the root. fn count 123 -> 123.
- app/commands.rs (6082) -> app/commands/* grouped by command family.
The 233-arm dispatch match becomes source-ordered per-family
dispatch_* handlers, preserving first-match precedence (233 -> 233).
- app/view.rs (4686) -> app/view/{mod,overlay,modal,viewcube,controls}.
Largest file drops from 9650 to 3343. Builds clean; app launches and
loads plugins with no panic.
